• Jetman Flies Again
Donning a new, improved, jet-powered wing, Swiss Yves Rossy, aka Jetman, successfully made two loops for the first time on November 5 after leaping off a hot air balloon in Switzerland. After strapping on a new wing design, he went up in the Esprit Breitling Orbiter balloon to about 7,900 feet altitude, dove off a platform, and started soaring through the sky, propelled by four Jet-Cat P200 engines, each producing 22 kilograms of thrust.

The Pentagon is closing the book on a long, thin cloud formation that could be seen for hundreds of miles to the far horizon at sunset over Southern California Monday (November 8), according to the Associated Press.

• Trent 900 Oil Leaks Prompt More A380 Groundings, Engine Swaps
The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has issued an Airworthiness Directive (AD) that requires Rolls-Royce Trent 900 engines to be inspected every 20 cycles for oil leaks. Following the recent in-flight failure of an engine on QF32 Nancy, a Qantas A380, Singapore and Lufthansa airlines have begun swapping out engines on A380s in which oil staining has been found inside a key section of the engine.
