Boycott can harm local business

The tourism sector, Namdeb, Namibia Breweries and the Karakul industry are all targets of an international boycott campaign which is aimed at bringing an end to the controversial annual seal culling season.
Pat Dickens, coordinator of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society’s South African chapter, said the organisation would like to see an immediate end to the culling of the Cape Fur seals.
Dickens said Sea Shepherd is not a protest group and does not necessarily feel that a boycott is an ideal solution to the annual “massacre” of the CITES listed Cape Fur seals.
