Are a few developers at your work thinking about heading to
JavaOne 2011 but have yet to register? If so, you might be interested

It could be a good selling point if your boss is umming and ahhing

If you've been playing with JDK 7 and have wondered how bug fixes
are worked on behind the scenes then you should have a look at A
Bug's Life blog post by Dalibor Topic. He goes through the
gauntlet a bug has to run through before emerging fixed in an update.
He also mentions work being done to update the bug tracking system
used in the OpenJDK.

application. It's available for the Blackberry,
Android devices and the
iphone/ipad.
The application gives you:
- access you your JavaOne schedule
- the ability to search for sessions or speakers
- read the latest on the JavaOne feeds, twitter, etc.
- find the best places to meet up with other attendees
- maps and details on how to get around in San Francisco
- locations for things to visit and places to eat
- details of discounts available in the city for JavaOne attendees

The technical presentations from the JVM Language Summit, held at
Oracle's Santa Clara campus in mid-July, are now viewable
online on the
Oracle Technology Network. The slides for the talks can also be
downloaded to complement the videos.
The JVM
Language Summit is a chance for language and VM implementers
to get together and talk about the JVM with respect to Java and other
programming languages.
This year's conference included talks on JVM capabilities, various
language implementations, Java SE 8, and a look at some emerging
technologies.
