ROScube-I ROS 2 controller helps create Edge AI robotics
ADLINK Technology has introduced the ROScube-I in partnership with Intel, to provide a real-time ROS 2 robot controller for AI robotic applications at the edge.

The ADLINK ROScube-I series is a ROS 2-enabled robotic controller which is build around Intel’s Xeon E, 9th Gen Intel Core i7/i3 and 8th Gen Intel Core i5 processors. The controller offers a wide variety of I/O connectivity to allow the easy integration of a range of sensors and actuators. For functional and performance expandability, the ROScube-I features an extension box with Intel VPU cards and the Intel Distribution of OpenVINO toolkit AI algorithm computation and inference. S ADLINK’s Neuron SDK supports systems based on the ROScube-I. Neuron SDK is a platform that has been developed for professional robotic applications. The newly released ROS 2 Foxy Fitzroy (codename "foxy") version allows Neuron SDK customers to gain long-term support (LTS) and ADLINK's services for ROScube.

ROScube-I series features:

  • High-performance x86-64 mainstream architecture for ROS 2 development
  • Comprehensive I/O for connecting a wide range of devices
  • Real-time I/O for environmental sensors (CAN, GPIO, COM)

  • Real-time middleware for communication between software components and devices
  • Hypervisor for safe mission critical mission execution
  • Ruggedized, secure connectivity with locking USB ports

  • Optional RTOS such as VxWorks

The ROScube-I Starter Kit or ROScube Pico Development Kit allow algorithms to be quickly prototyped and deployed to ADLINK’s NeuronBot ROS 2-based rapid robotic development kit. The quick deployment of algorithms allows for faster improvement of AI models and acquisition of vision data for optimizes operational decision-making. The NeuronBot supports ADLINK's Neuron SDK for the use of open source ROS libraries and packages.

René Torres, Vice President of the Sales, Marketing and Communications Group and General Manager of Industrial Solution Sales at Intel Corporation said, “ROScube is built to empower existing robotics solutions with high performance edge AI analytics for dynamic manufacturing environments”.

Dr. Ryan Chen, Director of the Advanced Robotic Platform Group at ADLINK added, “We have designed the ROScube-I Starter Kit and ROScube Pico Development Kit series as integrated hardware and software solutions which provide users with an
