MA Abstract :
This dissertation aims to explore the conflict caused between the communist
parties of the Balkans over the Macedonian Question. More specifically, it
discusses the stance of the Greek and the Yugoslav Communist Parties in
relation to the issue of Macedonia, as it emerges from the national and
political particularities of the two countries. The role of the Bulgarian
Communist Party and the policy of the Third International (Comintern) complete
the study, thus enabling the reader to understand the overall political scene
in which the communist parties of the period moved. Based on the above, the
present work attempts to define and evaluate intra-party and outside factors
that finally pushed the Greek and Yugoslav Communist Parties to adopt a common
foreign policy on the Macedonian Question during the midwar years.
