Finding a community of like-minded peers can be hard, especially for those that are underrepresented in their fields. AISES Chapters are a powerful way to build community with others who share your interests, with a growing network of chapters available for students and professionals across the United States and Canada. The continual engagement and local-level contributions of chapters serve as the grassroots cornerstone of the AISES mission: providing connection, camaraderie, and support, as well as fun and, often, food! AISES Chapters involve professionals, colleges, high schools, and tribal communities.
No AISES Chapter is exactly the same: some offer cultural activities, K-12 schools outreach, and professional networking. Some chapters raise funds for student scholarships or to help pay for travel to the AISES National Conference. Leadership development is a consistent theme, and making the most of an AISES Chapter experience requires participatory leadership from everyone. These circles are about belonging, sharing, and growing together.
Wherever they are based, AISES Chapters are a powerful way to build community with other people who want to be part of something bigger than themselves, providing a critical network for Indigenous students, professionals, and tribal members where connections between STEM, community, culture, and confidence are explored, encouraged, and celebrated.
We’re working to make AISES communications even stronger — and we’d love your input!
