Choose a theme’s style

Many block themes come with different fonts and color schemes you can choose from while activating a theme. This guide will show you how to select your preferred style for your theme.

This feature is available on sites with our WordPress.com Premium, Business, and Commerce plans, and the legacy Pro plan. For sites on the Free and Personal plans, upgrade your plan to access this feature.

When picking a theme for your site, you will find that many themes include different predefined colors and font styles. When activating a theme, you can choose the style that best suits your vision for your website:

After activating the theme, you can further customize the font and color choices to your needs via the Styles options.

You can browse through and switch the theme’s style in several places:

To choose from different style combinations for a theme you haven’t yet activated:

1. Visit your website’s dashboard.
2. Navigate to Appearance → Themes (or Appearance → Theme Showcase if using WP Admin).
3. Browse through the list of themes. You will find many themes that include different style variations, identified by the two-tone colored circles below the theme’s thumbnail.

4. Click on any of the two-tone color icons. The image of the theme will display that style variation.
   • Alternatively, click on the image of the theme to open up more information about that theme. Under “Styles” (or “Premium Styles” without an eligible plan), you can also browse the different style options:

When you activate the theme, it will be applied to your site with your selected style. Regardless of which variation you choose to activate, you will still have the option to change the colors, fonts, and appearance as you wish using the Site Editor.

To choose from different style combinations for the active theme on your website:

1. Start from your site’s dashboard.
2. Navigate to Appearance → Editor.
3. In the Design panel on the left, click on “Styles“.
4. If your theme includes variations, you will see the option to “Browse styles” to select a different style combination.

You can also browse the different style variations via the “Styles” button in the top-right corner of the editor — click on “Browse styles” to pick a variation and change the look of the site.
