EXIF data – delete vs preserve on resizing

    Hi there,

    this plugin is great, thanks for the simplicity!

    One question: In the documentation and on the option page it reads, that upon resizing it will strip out all EXIF information from the uploaded images. When just trying it out, for my page the EXIF data are still there – in the resized image?

    Additionally, I found this post from more than a year ago about having an option on this setting: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/option-to-strip-exif-meta-data/ Was this by any chance included an I am missing the setting somewhere?

    sure, happy to do. I don’t see any option to upload attachments here. How can I send it to you – via mail? Or upload somewhere + link here?

    Well, actually I was meaning the URLs of the images. Just copy-paste the URLs here after RIAU has processed them.

    I by now also dived a bit deeper in to the topic and within the core code of WP saw, that there are some fields deliberately excluded from strip_meta, such as EXIF and IPTC data. Maybe this helps?

    Hi there,

    I just did a quick test with your exact same image, and the EXIF information is deleted correctly. Perhaps there is another plugin making RIAU to not work correctly?

    Could you please run a quick test? Please do the following:
    – Deactivate all plugins except RIAU. Try if now the issue disappears.
    – If so, activate all plugins, one by one. After each single activation, check if the issue still happens. This will help you identify what plugin is the cause of this (if it is indeed another plugin).
    – If that doesn’t help, can you please contact us here so we can take a deeper look into this? Make sure to mention this conversation 🙂
