  • Hello @marcussg

I don’t think this is possible using the free version of the theme and Elementor, as these products don’t have such a feature.

You can create a video popup using the Video widget from Elementor, but the trigger can be only an image, not a button.
    https://elementor.com/blog/v130-video-lightbox/

Maybe you can look for other free addons for Elementor that might include such a feature?

For example, we have a premium plugin with Elementor Addons, and it includes a Video Slideshow widget with lightbox support:
    https://www.wpzoom.com/plugins/wpzoom-elementor-addons/

We use it in this demo:

    I hope this helps.

Damn… I Just switched my site over to the elementor version! Could I add it in using the block editor? I notice there is a warning that my site could break. Is that actually the case ?

The button can trigger video , only in a new browser tab.

I did find one on YT from Essential Addons that give you a light box , but that video is 4 years old and the functionality is no longer free 🙁 Also others only give the functionality with a massive placeholder of the video itself.

As a Dev, could you point me in the direction of one that would work?

It seems like such a simple thing to trigger video from a button. Why lock that behind a paywall?

Hi Pavel, or anybody that’s following along. I found a Lightbox from

    https://demo.happyaddons.com/lightbox-demo/

    https://happyaddons.com/docs/happy-addons-for-elementor/widgets/lightbox/

that gets me 90% of the way. I can have a Lightbox-style video triggered from a button, yay!

    BUT….

Even though the page looks like you can choose a variety of styles, unless I’m just missing something, I can’t find how to choose or style the button those ways. It defaults to oval. that’s all.

My major issue is that my self-hosted video always plays muted and requires the user to turn the volume up. Is this another WP limitation? Is there something I can do about that?

@marcussg, we’re only able to provide here support for WPZOOM’s themes and plugins. I suggest contacting the developer of the plugin you use for assistance on achieving what you need.

You should also be able to use Elementor’s popup functionality or button settings to achieve the effect you’re looking for.

Hi Ina. I don’t think that’s true, it’s a Pro feature only. as far as I know, EL has a global lightbox feature for images but if you want video Lightbox from a button you need EL Pro. There’s a video popup plugin from WPTD which might do the trick. I’m just trying to help myself and the next person who might come across this issue. Thanks as always Ina & Pavel.
