The people who subscribe to my blog through the Jetpack “Subscribe” block receive a welcome email with several links to recent posts. These links go to the development site https://wp-nu0z3345yc.pairsite.com/ but should go to the live site https://barbyoung.com/. I don’t see any place to change this on the WordPress Jetpack dashboard. I can only edit the welcome message.

The Jetpack AI help assistant suggested I edit the wp-config.php file. I told the AI that I have no idea what this file is or how to find and edit it. The AI responded: “Since editing this file requires technical knowledge, I recommend connecting with our Happiness Engineers via the WordPress.org forum for step-by-step guidance.”

So here I am. Could one of the Happiness Engineers please hand-hold me though fixing this problem? Thanks.

    Hi @barbyoung,

My apologies for the information that the AI assistant gave you. It is not correct. You should not need to modify the wp-config.php file to resolve this problem. I ran a content sync on my end. This should resolve the problem.

    Hi Swish,

Thank you for your help with this problem. I tried to check that all was okay on the confirmation email by entering my alternate email (barbyoung@gmail.com). The popup said that I was now subscribed as barbara@barbyoung.com, which I was already subscribed at. I did not get a confirmation email at barbyoung@gmail.com. There seems to be some crossover in Jetpack between my two email addresses. Is there any way to resolve this?

    Thanks,
    Barbara

I just tried to subscribe with my husband’s email address and got the same popup confirmation, that I was now subscribed as barbara@barbyoung.com. Also no confirmation in his email. Both times I tried to sign up, I used a different browser that wasn’t signed in to my WordPress site or Jetpack.

    Hi @barbyoung

Thanks for reporting back. I can understand your frustration here.

To resolve the issue when testing your subscription, you will want to test in a new, private browser window. Otherwise, our system will see that you are subscribed as barbara@barbyoung.com. We have an open issue to fix this.

I was able to test the welcome message and can confirm the issue with the links pointing to your development site remains. I’ve asked our development team to take a look, and we’ll let you know as soon as we have an update.

Also, while looking at this, I did see that your site still has several things in its code pointing to the development URL. I’d recommend reaching out to your hosting provider to see if they can help fix by updating your URLs.

I will wait to test my blog signup in a private browser window until I hear from you or the development team that the issue with the confirmation email links pointing to the development site has been resolved.

Can you give me more details about the “several things” in my site’s code that point to the development URL? I would like to be able to talk intelligently when I contact my hosting provider for help updating the URLs. What is it that I’m asking them to fix?

    Thanks,
    Barbara

    Hi there, @barbyoung,

We’ll update on the issue as soon as we hear from our tech team. As for your question:

Can you give me more details about the “several things” in my site’s code that point to the development URL? I would like to be able to talk intelligently when I contact my hosting provider for help updating the URLs. What is it that I’m asking them to fix?

We have seen traces in the URL trail/records that still point to your old staging URL. Since not everything in the URL references has been updated to your production site URL, some features might not work correctly because they “look” at the staging site URL, rather than the current production site URL.

While we have updated and synced everything we could update at our end, you will need to ask your hosting provider to check that all your instances are pointed and referring to your production site URL. Nothing should point or refer to the staging site URL.

Hope that’s all clear! Let me know what you find out, and we’ll update you as soon as we hear back from our tech team.

    Hi @barbyoung

I apologize for the confusion here. This is an example from one of your posts where the development site is still being referenced:

I’d suggest working with your host to update those instances and adjust them to point to the production URL.

Hello there, Sebastian from Jetpack here. I hope you are doing well.

I wanted to share that our developers have managed to fix the issue with the “Welcome Email” pointing to your staging site. We have tested it, and it’s pointing to your current site. Please check the link at the bottom of the following image:

I hope this helps; please let us know if you have any further questions or concerns.

    Cheers!
