The website uses an option field to store a Google Maps API key which is then obtained in the template PHP code.

Prior to upgrading to 6.4.0.1 the field was filled and and the map displayed.

After updating to ACF 6.4.0.1 the field became empty and the Google Maps would not display due to a missing API key error. I attempted to save the API key again several times in the options field but the field would remain empty and the map would not display.

After downgrading to 6.3.12 the API key appeared again in the options field and the map displays correctly again.

There seems to be an issue with the latest release causing this.

    Thanks.

  • Have the same issue. After upgrading to 6.4.0.1, all the options disappear. Downgrading to 6.3.12 restores everything correctly.

This is the exact same issue I’m facing. I tested different plugin versions, and the issue started with 6.4.0. The previous 6.3.12 is stable. I reverted back until this issue is resolved.

    +1 from me

Same issue here, 6.4.0.1 removes all the options views and breaks the website. Reverting back to 6.3.12 fixes everything.

This is what support wrote me yesterday:

ACF 6.4 ships with a new architecture behind the scenes for how ACF stores and retrieves metadata. This new architecture changes how Options pages work and how their values are loaded, but as that feature is only available in ACF PRO, the code to read/write options pages is not present in ACF 6.4

Prior to 6.4, ACF used the same code for reading and writing meta values regardless of where the data was stored; which is why the legacy Options page add on was still able to read data there, but it isn’t now.

Whilst we’re looking if we can ship that code back in ACF Free in our next release to at least mitigate this issue temporarily, you would then need to reinstall the unsupported and deprecated Options Page addon, which has several other bugs, and will stop working again at some point in the future as it’s not maintained.

Unfortunately, to use ACF Options Pages going forward on newest builds of ACF, you need an active ACF PRO license.

So I guess it’s either upgrading to PRO or stayin’ stuck on 6.3.12, which also seems a valid path to choose, until it breaks.

    That is such a bummer…

@acfsupport thx for following up, and it’ll be really great if you’d be willing to resolve this issue for the free version also 🙂
