Get fast, helpful WordPress support

Last reviewed on July 23, 2026

Try our AI-powered assistant, known as the WordPress.com Support Assistant, for instant answers to all types of questions you may have about WordPress.com. This guide will show you how to interact with our support assistant for fast, helpful support.

About our support assistant

The WordPress.com Support Assistant isn’t your typical bot! Our AI-powered assistant uses a vast library of WordPress-related information to intelligently answer any type of question you may have as you use WordPress.com.

WordPress.com's Support Assistant introduction with a field labeled "Ask anything..."

The WordPress.com Support Assistant answers questions about your website and can complete certain tasks for you directly in the chat. It doesn’t replace the professional, human support we’ve always provided—we offer AI support as an additional tool that gives you faster guidance than waiting for a human reply.

In fact, the very same Happiness Engineers who provide personal support are working to optimize our AI answers too.

What the support assistant can do for you

The support assistant can complete some tasks for you in the chat, not only answer questions. When you ask, it can help you:

  • Manage your domains: look up the domains on your account, check whether a domain is available and what it costs, and set a domain as your site’s primary address.
  • Update DNS records and name servers: view your DNS records, add or remove records, change name servers, and restore the default WordPress.com DNS settings.
  • Set up email: configure your domain’s DNS for an external mail provider, including Google Workspace, iCloud Mail, Microsoft 365, and Zoho Mail.
  • Provision an SSL certificate for your domain.
  • Manage your site and account: launch your site, switch it between public and private, and change your account’s currency.
  • Troubleshoot your site: look up recent PHP errors and run the Site Profiler to check your hosting details.

Before the assistant changes anything on your site or account, it confirms the action with you first. If a task is outside what the assistant can do, it tells you and can connect you with a Happiness Engineer.

How to talk to AI support

Before reaching human support, here are some tips on how AI can help you get the answers you need faster than spending time waiting for a Happiness Engineer.

Be specific

Like with any AI tool, vague questions will result in vague answers. To ensure our support assistant can craft a solution to your issue, provide a detailed description of the issue or question you have, including what went wrong and what you expected to happen instead.

For example:

  • Vague request: “I need help with my site.”
  • Specific request: “I need help in figuring out how to add a dropdown option to my site’s menu. I’ve tried updating my template, but the menu hasn’t changed on my website.”

Use familiar words

The WordPress.com support assistant is trained on the existing WordPress.com interface. Therefore, it recognizes the same words that you already see on your screen.

For example, if you use the word “app”, our support assistant may not recognize that you are asking about a WordPress plugin. If you use the word “teaser”, it may not realize you’re asking about post excerpts.

One question at a time

Just like us humans, our support assistant can’t multitask well. If you have several questions you want to ask, submit just one and give our support assistant the space to share its answer. Once you’ve received your answer, proceed with your next question.

Share exact error messages

If you received an error on your site that you need help with, copy and paste the exact text of that error message to share with our support assistant. Our support assistant has likely seen the error message before and knows the solution.
