Kate Perez

Kate Perez is an education reporter for the Tribune. She previously worked as a national trending and breaking news reporter at USA TODAY, where she covered everything from the psychology behind 2016 nostalgia to the feelings and perspectives of Cuban Americans amid President Trump's attempts to pressure the island. Kate was also a six-month emerging news and education intern at the Tribune in 2025, working on the team that covered Operation Midway Blitz. Kate graduated from the University of Iowa in May 2025, and she is originally from Aurora.
