Connect with your community and achieve your goals with Facebook.

Build community and keep your organization’s followers informed with your presence on Facebook.

Get started on Facebook.

Anyone can create a Page, but only official representatives can create a Page for an organization, business, brand or public figure.

  1. Go to facebook.com/pages/create.
  2. Enter a Page name, Page bio and category.
  3. Click Create Page.
  4. Customize your Page. You can add your bio, a profile picture and cover photo.

Select the most appropriate category for your Page.

  • If you’re a government official, select Government Official
  • If you’re a government organization, such as police or fire department, city council or other government department or agency, select Government Organization or Public and Government Service.
  • If you’re a nonprofit, select Nonprofit Organization or Charity Organization.
  • If you’re running for office, select Political Candidate.
  • If you’re a political organization, such as a political party or other political advocacy group, select Political Organization or Political Party.

Note: Some elected officials in some jurisdictions are required by law to have two Facebook presences (one for campaign activity and another for government activity). You should always comply with all applicable laws and regulations when it comes to political activity on Facebook and Instagram.

  • You can give trusted people partial access or full control of your Page to help manage it. You can create multiple admin roles or assign task-based permissions individually for specific items such as advertising, content creation or insights. Please note, Meta’s Community Standards require that only authentic Facebook accounts have admin access for Pages.

Verified badges mean that an account has been verified based on their activity across our products and information or documents that they provide.

In addition to following Facebook’s Terms of Use and Community Standards, your account also needs to be:

  • Authentic: Represent a real person, registered business or entity.
  • Unique: Be the only presence of this person or business. Only one Page or profile per person or business may be verified, with exceptions for language-specific Pages and profiles. We don't verify general interest Pages and profiles (e.g. puppy memes).
    • Politicians may maintain two verified Pages in support of ethics requirements to allocate official funds and campaign funds to separate Pages. See below for guidelines on page names for official government pages and for campaign/personal pages.
  • Complete: Be published, public, Have name, an about section, Page or profile photo, cover photo and recent activity, including at least one post.
    • See General guidelines for Facebook Page Names
    • Page names for official government pages including elected politicians’ official pages can include their government title or abbreviation e.g. Senator/Representative/Congressman/Congresswoman/Mayor/Minister/MP, etc. plus name (i.e. 'Senator Samantha Weber' or 'Sen. Helen Chan')
    • Page names for campaign/personal page or profile should not include any titles or “for Congress”/”for America”, etc - descriptions/slogans are not allowed as per guidelines
    • Page Category should accurately reflect entity’s position e.g. government official, or politician/political candidate
    • About section should include information clearly stating where it is a government page or campaign page.
  • Notable: Represent a well-known, often searched person, brand or entity. We review Pages and profiles that are featured in multiple news sources and we don't consider paid or promotional content as sources for review.

Meta Verified is a paid subscription that comes with features, such as the verified badge, account support, impersonation protection and more.

  • Note: Meta Verified is currently only available for creators and business accounts. Meta Verified currently is not available to certain categories of businesses, such as government, non-profit, and political organizations, including politicians, and any such businesses that successfully subscribe to Meta Verified may have their subscriptions revoked. Leverage diverse formats.

Follow best practices for connecting on Facebook.

  • Promote meaningful conversations with your community by asking them questions, answering theirs and showing them you are paying attention to their concerns.

  • Regularly monitor your Page activity for comments and questions that need attention.

  • Like and reply to comments whenever possible.

  • Respond to comments on your Page honestly and fairly. Responses to individual comments build trust over time and show that you are listening.

FAQs

You can request a change to your Page’s name. Keep in mind that changing your Page’s name won’t affect its username. Visit our Help Center to learn how to change the name of your Page.

If you’re an admin of 2 Facebook Pages, you may be able to merge them if:

  • They have the same name and represent the same thing. If you’d like your Pages to have the same name, you can request a name change for one of your Pages. After the change is approved and your Pages have the same name, you can request to merge them by reaching out to our team or following the steps listed here.
  • They have the same address if they have physical locations.
  • They’re under the same Business Manager account.
  • Both Pages are classic Pages or both Pages are in the new Pages experience.
  • The Page you want to merge from isn’t the primary Page of a Business Manager account.

You can't merge:

Anyone can tag you in photos and other posts. Depending on your settings, you’ll receive a notification when someone tags you. You can choose what notifications you receive about tags from your settings. Learn more about tagging here.

You can use tag review to approve or dismiss tags people add to your posts. When you turn on tag review, if someone tags something you posted, the tag won’t appear until you’ve approved it. Learn more about tag review here.

A fake profile is when someone is presenting to be something or someone that doesn’t exist. Fake profiles can include profiles for fake or made up people, public figures or organizations. Learn more about reporting fake profiles here.
