Stage 1 : Job Simulation (No Time Limit)
- We will be given with some real-life scenarios with simulated customers email and actions to be taken in the options. We need to rank them according to the effectiveness towards solution.
Stage 2 : Behavioral and Psychometric Test (No Time Limit)
- Tests your Personality and Attitude while dealing with different scenarios in real-life.(Answer according to Amazon’s 16 Leadership Principles)
Stage 3 : About 50-60 Technical MCQs (No Time Limit)
- Concepts covered here are : Computer Networks, Operating Systems and Troubleshooting.
First Technical Round
- This round was based on OS Linux commands used for Troubleshooting.
- First question was tell me about yourself.
- Be thorough with each & every OS concept.
- Scenario based questions were asked.
- Explain Booting process in Linux (Be comfortable with both Linux & Windows OS).
- Your system is running slow, what might be possible reasons and how will you troubleshoot it?
- The answers you provide will decide the flow of your interview (Each question is layered and will have multiple follow up questions along with it based on real time examples).
- How will you create and view a file in Linux?
- You are unable to create a file. What might be possible reasons? (They expect at least 3 reasons)
- What is scheduling? Explain types of scheduling.
- What is fragmentation in terms of OS? Explain different types of fragmentation.
- How do you overcome problem of fragmentation? Explain it. (Sol: Explain Segmentation)
- List all the scheduling algorithms. (It would be better if you explain them in brief too!)
- Linux command to view first 5 lines of a file, what is purpose of top command and it’s attributes. Explain file system.
- Can you run a 8GB RAM game on a 4GB RAM system? If yes, how?
- Write a code to find duplicate characters in string. (Better if you explain the logic while you type)
Second Technical Round
- How do you connect to the internet?
- Follow up question, explain how DHCP-DORA works?
- Explain the packet flow whenever a request is made.
- What is DNS, its role and advantages and various types of it.
- What happens when you type a URL in browser? (Depth explain from start to end is expected)
- You are unable to connect to Database server, how will you resolve it?
- Various scenario based question on the same were asked.
- What is subnetting? Why is it required and how is it done?
- Questions on my resume were asked.
- They wish to understand what have you done in your projects.
- How have you resolved technical problems in your project? (Better if you take an example and explain possible solutions)
- Tell me about your other responsibilities other than those mentioned in your resume.
Managerial Round
- The very first question, tell me about yourself. (Keep it crisp and short)
- How were your previous rounds?
- Questions based on the projects mentioned in resume. (They just try to know how you handled the project rather than technical stuff).
- Managerial round is a tricky round where your sense of judgment, communication and how you handle pressure is tested.
- Tell me about a time where you thought you could have done things differently. How did you work upon it and what impact it would have created on your work.
- They also check if you are ready to step out of your comfort zone.
- Tell me about a time when you received a negative feedback from either your teammate, reviewer and how did you react to it
- and what was the outcome. (Also asked what grade were you given in that course)
- Tell me about a time when you were given a major responsibility and how did you handle it along with outcome of it.
- The interview process is quite different, they type the answers you say. So, don’t get distracted.
- Questions will be stressful but don’t fail to answer with confidence as no answer is either right or wrong but it reflects who you are as a person.
- HR manager will be very experienced, so try not to bluff in any part of your answer and be yourself.
Suggestions
- Never get demotivated during your placements.
- Be confident. Prepare the topics well. Be thorough with the basics of networking, OS and troubleshooting.
- In online assessment , don’t blindly select the scenario options instead read every option and then select most appropriate for you.
- It's ok to say “I don't know the answer to this question” in the interview and tell what you know related to it.
- Each company will focus on specific topics
