- $10 billion partnership to deliver AI technology and infrastructure that enables growth across sectors in Saudi Arabia, the United States and beyond
- AI hub expected to generate $20 billion in AI-related revenues for American companies, add $35 billion economic benefit to the United States, support 11,000 American jobs and bring substantial economic and societal benefits to Saudi Arabia
RIYADH – May 13, 2025 – Today, Google Cloud and PIF announced the advancement of a partnership to build and operate a global artificial intelligence (AI) hub in Saudi Arabia, previously announced last fall. The AI hub — funded by a $10 billion joint investment from Google Cloud and PIF — will be launched with Saudi technology company Humain, and enable AI-powered innovation and growth for Saudi and American companies doing business in the region.
The AI hub will provide an overall economic benefit of approximately $35 billion to the United States and support roughly 11,000 American jobs by 2040, according to an Access Partnership study commissioned by Google Cloud. This is the expected result of new economic activity from increased cloud and AI adoption, as well as the American talent and resources involved in developing and operating the AI hub.
Ruth Porat, President and Chief Investment Officer of Alphabet and Google, said: “We are proud of this partnership for a global AI hub that will accelerate the application of AI to deliver innovation, economic growth and societal benefits to Saudi Arabia and to global companies doing business in the region. In addition, together we will create highly-skilled jobs and deliver AI training programs to open new, rewarding career pathways for Saudis. We acknowledge and are grateful for the engagement and policies of both the Trump Administration and the leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia who are enabling strong execution and the benefits for both countries.”
The AI hub will deliver three distinct benefits:
- Bring Google’s AI technology and cloud infrastructure to the Kingdom: This includes Gemini (Google’s most advanced AI model family), Imagen (Google’s groundbreaking image generation model) and Veo (Google’s industry-leading video generation model). These capabilities will be powered by high-performance infrastructure consisting of the newest generations of GPUs and TPUs, supported by Google Cloud’s years of investment and leadership in custom silicon.
- Empower organizations across the MENA region: By accessing AI and cloud technology — already delivered by Google Cloud regions around the world — directly in Saudi Arabia, organizations across the Middle East and North Africa region will be able extend their products and services globally.
- Advance American AI leadership and economic growth: The AI hub will enable AI companies and developers who build with Gemini and Google Cloud’s infrastructure to bring their products and services to Saudi Arabia. Additionally, Google Cloud’s customers in the United States — across healthcare, retail, financial services and other key industries — will be able to leverage the AI hub’s capabilities to bring their AI-powered digital services to end users in the Kingdom. By helping businesses expand their reach into the Kingdom, the AI hub is expected to generate $20 billion in AI-related revenues for American companies.
The AI hub will serve as an expansion of the existing Google Cloud region in Dammam, which is part of the company’s current global network of 42 cloud regions.
