Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora

Ubisoft Massive's Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora Revealed As First-Person Action-Adventure Game - E3 2021

After a long wait, we finally get our first look at Avatar.

Over four years after being announced, we've finally gotten a first look at Ubisoft Massive's Avatar game, which will arrive in 2022.

Revealed in today's Ubisoft Forward E3 conference, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora brings us back to Pandora, the trailer providing glimpses of various beautiful biomes. It will be a first-person open world action-adventure game set in the Western Frontier, a never-before-seen part of Pandora featuring a living and reactive world. It will once again pit the Na'vi against humans and their mechs.

The Avatar game was first announced in 2017, promising to use the Snowdrop engine built for The Division to "expand and deepen in the Avatar universe in exciting and innovative ways along with the films.” The Massive team has worked hand-in-hand with Avatar director James Cameron's production company to make a game that promises to be very different to The Division, focusing on "world and discovery and nature". The game was delayed into 2022 last year.

It's far from Ubisoft Massive's only ongoing licensed project. While using the Tom Clancy license for The Division, it's also creating an open-world Star Wars game.
