  • Last week, we had the pleasure of attending the ribbon cutting for the new Alki Elementary School. AHBL’s civil engineers supported the replacement school and modernization of the existing gymnasium, providing grading, storm drainage improvements, and enhancements to the outdoor play area located on Seattle Parks Department property. We are grateful to have been part of this transformative project and extend our thanks to Mahlum for the partnership that brought this community investment to fruition.   As students and educators prepare for the new school year, we’re also gearing up for something special. Throughout September, we'll be highlighting educational projects, sharing thought leadership, and running a donation drive for one of our local elementary schools. Stay tuned! #SeattlePublicSchools #Seattle #K12Design #CivilEngineering #AHBL

  • AHBL recently toured the new Lowell Elementary School, one of the final walkthroughs before students and staff make the space their own. We were proud to support the project with land use planning, civil engineering, and structural engineering services.   The school features exposed mass timber framing through use of cross-laminated timber (CLT) panels and glulam beams, creating warm and inviting spaces that support learning and connection to the greater outdoors. Nestled in Tacoma’s Old Town neighborhood, the school’s interior and exterior spaces compliment the surrounding landscape and community. We can’t wait to see students and staff bring this incredible new space to life.   It's always a pleasure to partner with BCRA and Korsmo Construction on K-12 projects that create inspiring learning environments for our communities. We're excited to celebrate this milestone further by joining the first day of school festivities on September 9 and welcoming students to their new school. #K12Design #TacomaPublicSchools #AHBL

  • A big thank you to everyone who joined us at the SAME Golf Tournament! As a sponsor, we were excited to spend the day connecting with fellow attendees, sharing conversations on and off the course, and enjoying some friendly competition. Events like these are a great reminder of the strong relationships that make our industry and community so special. Thank you to SAME Mount Tacoma post for hosting such a successful event and to all the participants who made the day memorable. We had a wonderful time and look forward to seeing everyone again soon! #AHBL #SAMEGolfTournament #Engineering

  • This year at the Seattle Design Festival, our landscape architecture team brought an idea to life through an interactive exhibit centered on material reuse and community participation. Inspired by the significant amount of fish nets and manufacturing scraps discarded each year, the installation invited visitors to weave reclaimed netting into a collective piece of art.   The exhibit demonstrated how design can transform overlooked materials into something meaningful while fostering conversations about sustainability, creativity, and stewardship. We're grateful to everyone who joined us and helped create something new from what was once considered waste. #AHBL #SeattleDesignFestival #LandscapeArchitecture

After several trial runs (in the iconic Freeway Park no less), AHBL Inc. landscape architects are ready for the 2026 Seattle Design Festival!! We are hosting a pop-up at this year's festival on Sunday, August 16th, from 10 AM to 2 PM. Stop by and learn about our theme, write a note to the community and spread good thoughts and wishes for the future. Super big shout outs to Amanda Muir https://lnkd.in/gfGhWerG; Kiera Eason, Juliana Hom, PLA, Vasilisa Karp to bring it all together #AHBL #AIASeattle #LandscapeArchitecture #SDF2026

  • Eight years in the making, Frontier Park's new horse arena cover is officially open! Last Friday, community members gathered to celebrate the ribbon cutting of this exciting new amenity, which will provide year-round opportunities for park visitors, 4-H members, and equestrians. AHBL was proud to partner with Shive-Hattery this 24,000 SF covered arena. Our structural engineers helped establish the design requirements for the pre-engineered metal canopy, while our civil engineering team designed the site improvements needed to bring the project to life, including drainage, erosion control, and stormwater management systems that support the long-term functionality and sustainability of the facility. Congratulations to everyone who helped make this long-awaited community investment a reality! #FrontierPark #PierceCountyParks #RibbonCutting #Graham #AHBL

  • Food Frenzy 2026 was an absolute success at AHBL! From volunteering with Food Lifeline to pancake breakfasts and hot dog lunches, our team came together to raise $11,336.00 in support of Food Lifeline's mission to provide meals for children and families throughout the summer months when school is out of session. We're incredibly proud of everyone at AHBL who contributed their time, energy, and creativity to organize these events and make them such a success. We'd also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our community members and teaming partners outside of AHBL who donated raffle prizes. #FoodFrenzy2026 #FoodLifeline #AHBLLife #AHBL
