Earlier this month, our team had the opportunity to attend the U.S. Open with HUB International. Beyond the exciting matches, it was a great opportunity to connect, strengthen relationships, and spend time together outside of the office. It was a wonderful day, and we look forward to many more opportunities to connect in the future. #BerkleyEntertainment #Teamwork #UnderwritingInAction #USOpen

W. R. Berkley Corporation announces with deep sadness the passing of its founder and Executive Chairman, William R. Berkley, today at the age of 80. Mr. Berkley founded the Company in 1967 and, over the course of nearly six decades, built it into a Fortune 500 company that is one of the world’s leading commercial insurance organizations. His vision, discipline, and unwavering commitment to an entrepreneurial culture focused on underwriting excellence and long-term results shaped the Company’s success and leaves an enduring imprint on both the Company and the insurance industry. He was a product of the American dream and had a strong desire to instill and support that dream in others. W. Robert Berkley, Jr., President and Chief Executive Officer, said: “My father was more than an extraordinary leader and entrepreneur, whose vision and values shaped the Company. He was a father, best friend, and mentor to me and numerous colleagues, and his influence on us, our Company, and the broader industry and the countless lives he touched and enhanced is immeasurable.” Read the full release here: https://ow.ly/QEu950Z9H6V

Love seeing our leadership investing time with future risk management professionals! The insights shared—especially around effort, resilience, and continuous learning—are invaluable for anyone starting their career. Proud to be part of an organization that prioritizes mentorship and industry growth.
I had the pleasure of speaking to University of Georgia - C. Herman Terry Risk Management and Insurance Program recently. This program does such an amazing job for preparing students for a career in Risk Management. We spent over 2.5 hours discussing the Sports & Entertainment insurance industry, Broker/Client Technology and Career development. In preparing for the discussion, I reflected upon my career and all the things I would have told myself 30 years earlier if I had the chance. This is some of the career advice I shared with the students: 1. No one owes you anything. 2. Dress for the job you want, not the job you have. 3. Failure is essential for success—it means you’re taking risks. 4. Your effort must always exceed your career expectations. 5. Never be the first to leave or the last to arrive. 6. If you only work as hard as your peers or competitors, you’ll never surpass them. 7. Win Mondays. If you do, you’ll win the week 99% of the time. 8. Leadership comes at a cost—not everyone is willing to pay it. 9. Avoid remote work right out of school; otherwise, your early career learning curve will flatten. 10. Learn something new every day.
