Black Python Devs 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 100 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚 - There is a student somewhere in Africa who has never attended a technology conference. - A student who has never met a software engineer. - A student who has never contributed to open source. - A student who doesn't know that the skills they are learning in school can connect them to opportunities beyond their campus. - A student who have the strong determination to be better. 𝐖𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 100 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐈𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 is about taking the community closer to those students. Not waiting for them to find us. Going to them. We are very grateful to have the Python Software Foundation as a Community Partner supporting this vision. Now, we are opening the door to 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐜 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬 who believe in investing in young talents. If your organization is passionate about technology, education, innovation, and youth development, we would love to build with you. 7*7*31 Final Update 80 Donations $6,105.10 Total Today is the last day for this campaign. I want to thank everyone that donated. This significantly helped our position in funding for the year. I need to not look at numbers for at least a weekend (watching that bar go up is great but anxiety inducing). We will definitely do something like this in the future as an official fundraiser. I learned a lot and the biggest lesson is that I need help I. The fundraising part. Thank you to everyone that reshared and helped raised money for BPD. A report will show up on the blog in about a week. Continue to Support Today: https://lnkd.in/ergP-6ET

  • One of the things we are most proud of this year isn't just launching the 𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐏𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐬 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐀𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦. It's building the foundation that will help our ambassadors succeed. Today, we completed the 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐀𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐫 𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤. This isn't just a document of policies and expectations. It's a guide designed to support every ambassador throughout their one-year journey, from onboarding and leadership development to event planning, reporting, community engagement, graduation, and becoming part of our Alumni Network. As we built it, we kept asking one question: "𝑰𝒇 𝑰 𝒘𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒂 𝒔𝒕𝒖𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒂𝒎𝒃𝒂𝒔𝒔𝒂𝒅𝒐𝒓, 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒘𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝑰 𝒏𝒆𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒓𝒊𝒗𝒆? The result is a handbook that provides clarity, structure, and the resources needed to lead with confidence. For our inaugural cohort of 61 𝑺𝒕𝒖𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑨𝒎𝒃𝒂𝒔𝒔𝒂𝒅𝒐𝒓𝒔 𝒂𝒄𝒓𝒐𝒔𝒔 15 𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒔, this handbook represents more than guidelines. It represents our commitment to investing in people, building strong campus communities, and empowering the next generation of Python leaders. This is just the beginning. 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝. 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐞. • For the first time, Black Python Devs had a presence at EuroPython. 💚🐍 Seeing members of our community represent, connect with Pythonistas from around the world, and share in one of the largest Python conferences is a proud moment for us. To everyone who attended, represented, volunteered, spoke, or simply showed up at the booth. Thank you. You carried the community with excellence. This is just the beginning. Here's to building more bridges, creating more opportunities, and ensuring more voices are present on global stages. #EuroPython #BlackPythonDevs #Python #OpenSource #TechCommunities

Yesterday, we officially held the onboarding session for the 𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐏𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐬 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐀𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦, and it's a moment I'm genuinely grateful for. A few months ago, this was just an idea, creating a program that would empower students to become leaders, build Python communities on their campuses, and create opportunities for others. Today, that idea became a reality. We welcomed 61 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐀𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 15 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬, bringing together students from different universities, backgrounds, and disciplines with one shared goal: growing Python communities and making technology more accessible. During the onboarding session, we discussed the vision of Black Python Devs, but the purpose of the program, the responsibilities of ambassadors, our one-year roadmap, and how each ambassador can make an impact within their institution and beyond. Not everyone was able to attend live, but that's okay. This is just the beginning of a year-long journey of learning, collaboration, leadership, and community building. I'm incredibly thankful to everyone who applied, to the ambassadors who accepted this responsibility, and to the Black Python Devs leadership for believing in this initiative. As the 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐱𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚, this is one of the projects I'm most excited about because I believe lasting change starts by investing in people. If we equip students with the right skills, support, and opportunities today, they will go on to build stronger communities and create opportunities for many others tomorrow. Was glad to have our Western Regional Executor Africa Damilola Oladele, Eastern Regional Executor Africa Brayan Kai Mwanyumba and our council member Sandra A. grace the ceremony. This is only the first chapter. Here's to a year of learning, leading, and building together. 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝. 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐞.
