CMHA and organizations like us are the frontline in our communities, but we have been chronically underfunded for decades, and we can't continue down this path. Nonprofits provide mental health services, vocational programming, housing support, childcare, and so much more. What we all have in common is a dedication to helping our neighbors, and making a positive difference in people's lives. The sun and smiles were out for the official ribbon cutting at Berkowitz II - a new housing development that includes 28 beautifully designed townhouses to provide affordable and supportive housing in New Britain. Designed to serve a diverse range of households, units are available to residents earning a percentage of the Area Median Income (AMI), with several units being made available to unhoused families. Together, we collaborate across a multidisciplinary team—including law enforcement, DCF, prosecutors, medical providers, and clinicians—to respond to suspected child abuse.
