  • Thank you to everyone who joined us at Shack15 for the SF Climate Week event we co-hosted with Prelude Ventures and LaunchSquad. Here are four takeaways from our panel: Only 1% of deployed batteries sit on commercial and industrial sites, despite C&I representing ~30% of the U.S. building market. Warehouses, logistics facilities, and cold storage are the next major deployment wave. — Tim Woodward, Prelude Ventures With 90,000+ batteries under management and growing, these aren't "virtual" power plants anymore. They're firm, dispatchable assets in the ground. Hold DERs to the same reliability standard as traditional energy assets, not a higher one. — Yang Yu, Sunrun VPPs are no longer a technology problem. What's left is nailing the business models, financing structures, and incentives. — Kunal Girotra, Lunar Energy The battery doesn't have to enter the home as a battery. Embed it in a product people already use. That's how you bring distributed energy to the other 93% of homes that solar never reached. — Sam Calisch, Copper The grid of the future is bi-directional and collaborative. We're grateful to be building it alongside this community.

  • If you're in town for SF Climate Week, we'd love to meet you. Our CEO Sam Calisch will be on two panels following distinct pathways in the energy transition: Citizen-Led Climate Finance — Unlocking Barriers to Electrification & Clean Energy 📅 Saturday, April 18 | 1:30–2:20 PM | UC Law SF, Baxter Classroom Sam joins moderator Ian Monroe and fellow speakers Cora Stryker of Bright Saver, Melissa Yu of Sierra Club, and Bruce Biewald of Synapse Energy Economics to share solutions driving individuals' clean energy adoption. Register here: https://lnkd.in/ghJJjuGe Can VPPs Solve the Grid's Capacity Crunch? 📅 Wednesday, April 22 | 4:00–7:00 PM | Ferry Building Virtual power plants are poised to scale as a solution to both surging energy demand and affordability. Kunal Girotra of Lunar Energy, Tim Woodward of Prelude Ventures, Yang Yu of Sunrun, and Sam discuss their experiences and perspectives on distributed energy with moderator Katie Brigham of Heatmap News. We wrapped up Power Shift: A DER Showcase and the energy in the room said it all. 🏠⚡ We zoomed into the home to showcase 4 key distributed energy technologies that can meaningfully lower electricity bills, then zoomed back out to tackle the harder questions: utility barriers, grid constraints, and what equitable access looks like for renters. One guest summed it up perfectly: "I think this does signal a power shift towards local community power." Energy is a fundamental need, not a niche policy topic. Events like this are how we start making the conversation and the solutions more open and accessible to everyone. Thank you to our incredible attendees and panelists for bringing your curiosity, your expertise, and your Saturday mornings. This is just the beginning. 🙌 Nicolás Rivero David Lapp Elizabeth K. • Last week, we installed 15 Charlies in a Manhattan co-op where residents hadn't been able to cook on a stove for nearly 4 years. We're grateful to the residents who shared their experiences with The Guardian and even invited the reporter and photographer back for a home-cooked meal! Thousands of New Yorkers swap gas for induction! Thank you to The Guardian for telling the story of how these New Yorkers ditched the aging gas pipes in their building and saved hundreds of thousands of dollars. Plus great lasagne content. Electric is faster, better, cheaper: "It makes sense"

Woohoo! Copper has been named one of Fast Company's 50 Most Innovative Companies for 2026. We started with a simple belief: electrification should be easy and obvious. Part of that ease is also making the switch joyful. Charlie was built for this and has made thousands of households healthier and cozier, judging from the beautiful food pictures and kind words we get every day from our cooks. Thank you to all the cooks who welcomed Charlie into their homes, shared it with their communities, and reminded us every day why this work matters. Here's to cleaner homes, better cooking, and a whole lot more nice energy ahead.

Last year, PLAYTE Kitchen electrified its entire cooking school with Charlies! We're proud to partner with them and enable more people to experience the magic of induction. If you'd like to try cooking on Charlie, join us this Saturday for a free event at PLAYTE featuring chefs Matt Dailey and Lisa Pinckney making Tom Kha Gai and Pad Kra Pao. They'll demonstrate the dishes and you'll have the opportunity to make Pad Kra Pao. Register to taste these delicious dishes and cook on Charlie: https://lnkd.in/dwuFke67

This is a HUGE new study from CalMTA (California Market Transformation Authority) calling 120V battery-equipped induction a "game changer". Here's how this study came to be. At one the multifamily buildings we've helped electrify, residents agreed to share data on how they use their battery-equipped induction ranges. They also agreed to take part in follow-up surveys on how they feel having switched from gas to induction. The team at CalMTA then pored over data for months. The result is a robust qualitative and quantitative 3rd party assessment of the viability of using 120V battery-equipped ranges to electrify kitchens. We've pulled out some of the key highlights here. If you're at all interested in residential electrification, please read the full report: https://lnkd.in/gqrSMDeE
