Yesterday, we welcomed Nellie Liang, senior fellow at the Hutchins Center on Fiscal and Monetary Policy at the The Brookings Institution and former under secretary for domestic finance at the US Treasury Department, and tim massad, research fellow at Harvard Kennedy School Executive Education, for an in-person roundtable in Washington, DC on the future of financial intermediation and stablecoins, with or without the Clarity Act. The discussion explored how stablecoins are reshaping the US financial system, including their implications for payments, financial intermediation, bank deposits, the role of the US dollar and the continued adoption of technological innovation in financial services. The conversation was moderated by Patricia Haas Cleveland, vice chair (New York) at OMFIF. DA Registry has launched a Proof of Transfer API, giving wallets’ and exchanges’ users on Canton Network an independent way to verify the status of a transfer, successful, pending, failed, or in an error state, without exposing the underlying transaction data. The API addresses a specific challenge for privacy-enabled assets: enabling independent verification while preserving confidentiality. Because transaction data on Canton is shared only with the parties entitled to see it, transfer status cannot be simply looked up on a ledger. With Proof of Transfer, wallets and exchanges can provide their users with a Transfer Object that can be checked through any integrated blockchain explorer to independently verify the transfer status. Leading wallets, exchanges, and explorers are already live with Proof of Transfer API. Bybit has integrated the API, letting its users verify cross-exchange and cross-wallet transfers of DA Registry-enabled assets on Canton, including USDCx. Read more: https://lnkd.in/exEguXYW

"Anything that helps the adoption by institutions is something that is extremely compelling to us." Yuval Rooz, Co-Founder and CEO of Digital Asset, which built Canton Network, is bringing banks and asset managers onto the network first, even though he says onboarding them is so much harder. His case rests on the markets those firms already trade: "The repo market, or the swaps market, or the FX market is still going to tick pretty large volumes, even if the [crypto] market is down 10% or 15%." If Canton can convert those businesses first, Rooz says, "we have a very interesting business proposition for token investors to invest in something that will have durability through the test of time."
