In her Healthy You article, “Beyond Hydration: How Water and Water-Based Activities Enhance Your Physical, Mental and Emotional Health,” Judi explores why our connection to water goes far beyond simply drinking enough of it. She introduces readers to the concept of “Blue Mind”—the calm, happy, and creative state associated with being near, in, or around water. And you don't necessarily need an ocean view to experience it. A lake, river, swimming pool, fountain, relaxing bath, or even the sounds of rain and waves may help us tap into some of those benefits. Judi also explores the connection between water and the celebrated Blue Zones, communities known for extraordinary longevity, and shares research around the potential physical, psychological, and social benefits of spending time in “blue spaces.” For a woman who created the original dance party workout and helped launch a fitness revolution, it feels fitting that Judi continues encouraging us to think about wellness not as one single activity—but as a way of living. We are proud to celebrate Lalitha Sneha Nandyala, Founder & CEO of SmartFolks and a member of Entrepreneurs of Purpose (EOP), featured in the Summer issue of Enterprising Women magazine in an inspiring EOP Member Legacy Spotlight: “This Is Not Your Time.” Lalitha’s journey began with a childhood dream in Bangalore, India: to build something of her own while helping other people grow alongside her. That dream eventually became SmartFolks, a global technology staffing and workforce solutions company that began in the basement of the home she shared with her husband, Ram, and today employs nearly 800 people across the United States, India, Mexico, and soon Canada. But the defining chapter of Lalitha’s story came outside the boardroom. Nearly three years ago, she suffered a catastrophic brain hemorrhage and was later told she had only a three percent chance of survival. During that experience, she recalls a vision of her late brother telling her: “This is not your time.” Lalitha chose to live—and that second chance deepened the sense of purpose that had guided her all along. Today, she is expanding internship opportunities, supporting education, and creating pathways for young people who may not otherwise have access to opportunity. And through it all, she remains committed to a philosophy that beautifully captures her approach to leadership: “We are hungry, not greedy.” Ambitious but grounded. Successful yet humble. Focused on growth without ever losing sight of people. Lalitha’s story reminds us that legacy isn't measured by revenue alone. It's measured by lives impacted, opportunities created, and how we choose to use the time we've been given. Kathy opens the magazine’s special Understanding AI section by addressing a question many business owners are asking: “I know I should be doing more with AI… I just don’t know where to start or what to trust.” In her article, “Are You the Chef or the Dish? A Practical Way to Think About AI in Your Business,” Kathy offers a wonderfully simple analogy: Traditional software is like a recipe—follow the steps and expect a predictable result. AI is more like a chef—it evaluates what it has, interprets information, and creates something new. And sometimes, what it creates needs another look. That distinction matters. As AI becomes part of our emails, ideas, communications, and business decisions, Kathy reminds leaders that something can sound confident, look polished, and still require deeper thinking. “A polished result doesn’t mean the thinking behind it is complete.” Her advice to entrepreneurs is practical: start with what’s useful. Let AI save time and help your team become comfortable with the technology—but leave room to think. Ask another question. Check an assumption. Add your own perspective. Because ultimately, your experience, your perspective, and your judgment are what give the work meaning—and what people will remember. The future of AI isn't about choosing between human intelligence and artificial intelligence. It's about knowing which one should lead.
