Today is School Lunch Hero Day. Behind every meal served is a team that shows up early, stays late, and does the work that keeps schools running, often without recognition. At Genuine Foods, our teams are more than operators. They are cooks, hosts, problem-solvers, and trusted faces in their communities. They notice when a student hasn’t eaten. They take the extra minute to get it right. They create spaces where students feel welcome. That work matters. It shapes daily routines, builds trust, and influences how students think about food for the rest of their lives. If you interact with a school food service professional, take a moment today to acknowledge them. Their impact is bigger than most people realize. #SchoolLunchHeroDay #GenuineFoods #K12 #Hospitality #FoodService #SchoolMeals #MakeADifferenceEveryDay

Performance is not just built in the weight room. It starts on the plate. With Genuine X, Genuine Foods is turning sports nutrition into a daily advantage for student-athletes through chef-driven meals, grab-and-go fuel, recovery shots, and performance boxes designed to support energy, focus, and recovery. The photos here are a glimpse of what that looks like in practice: post-workout shots, recovery bowls, and ready-to-go fuel that make it easier for athletes to refuel well, even on their busiest days. Real food. Real results. And most importantly, real support for students, coaches, and families. #GenuineX #PerformanceNutrition #SportsNutrition #StudentAthletes #RealFoodRealResults

The Genuine Foods team is thrilled to recognize our Founder & CEO Jeffrey Mills, who graduated from Harvard Business School's Owner/President Management program last week.
I built Genuine Foods from scratch. No family money. No inheritance. No safety net. Just a belief that the food served in schools, hospitals, and universities could be radically better than what I grew up eating on a lunch tray. Thirteen years later, Genuine Foods serves 50,000 meals a day across 100+ schools, universities, and hospitals. 600+ people on the team. One account at a time. One kitchen at a time. Last week, I graduated from #OPM64 at Harvard Business School. HBS gave me two of the most clarifying years of my life. One of the gifts of OPM is the room itself. 136 operators from around the world, many of them running businesses their families built over generations. I learned something from every one of them. The stewardship, the long view, the quiet discipline of protecting something you were handed and making it stronger. I came in as a first-generation founder and left with a deeper respect for what it takes to carry a legacy forward, not just start one. Here is the honest truth about what the program did for me. I walked in as a founder who had survived. I walked out as a CEO who intends to build something that outlasts me. There is a real difference between the two, and I did not fully understand it until I got to Cambridge. The faculty pushed me in ways I wasn’t expecting. Not with frameworks. With questions I couldn’t answer on the way home. What kind of organization are you actually building? Who are you building it for when no one is watching? What are you willing to be responsible for? I thought the growth would be intellectual. It turned out to be something else entirely. I have grown more personally in the last two years than in the last ten. Here is what I’m taking back to Genuine Foods: A sharper conviction that institutional food is overdue for someone to actually care. Schools. Hospitals. Universities. The places where the food has been mediocre for so long that mediocre has become the standard. We are going to make that standard unrecognizable. A clearer picture of the next five years and what it will take to get there. And a deeper gratitude for the people who chose to build this with me. To the Genuine Foods team who ran the company while I was in Cambridge: you are the reason I could go, and you are the reason I came back more useful than I left. To my OPM 64 cohort: thank you. I learned from every one of you. Back to work. #GenuineFoods #HBS #OPM64 #Leadership

The future of school dining will be shaped as much by technology as by food. And some of that work is happening inside our kitchens. Our Director of Systems & Continuous Improvement, Chef Joshua Ingraham, is helping build the next generation of dining engagement tools designed to make school dining more interactive, personalized, and data-driven. When chefs build the tools, the technology actually works in real kitchens. This is the kind of thinking that will shape the future of dining. ⬇️ Josh explains more below. #realfoodrealimpact #schoolnutrition #collegedining #foodserviceinnovation
I have a confession to make. I’m addicted to my job. For the first time in my career, I’m building things I never imagined. I went from running large kitchens to coding digital culinary tools. Last week alone I pushed 171,000 lines of code into a dining engagement platform designed to change how students interact with our kitchens. Dining is no longer just about posting menus. It’s becoming interactive, personalized, and driven by data. Genuine Foods #realfoodrealimpact

A few moments from NASPA - Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education Conference in Kansas City this week. Our team had the opportunity to connect with many thoughtful student affairs leaders and have some great conversations about the role dining plays in campus life and student experience. We’ve heard many kind comments during the conference — a testament to the work our Genuine Foods team put in to make it all come together. It’s been a great week of conversations, ideas, and new connections. Susan S. Smith Chris McDonough Alexis Grant Sasha Raquel Bensol
