From publicly available data: - 300+ leaked credentials tied to the domain - Indicators consistent with infostealer exposure - Experienced ransomware targeting 3 times (recently targeted 03/2026) from multiple ransomware-related listings across public tracking sources - No DMARC enforcement Here’s the question: At what point are these types of signals evaluated when selecting partners or awarding work (including DoD contracts)? Not just primes, but teaming partners, MSPs, and subcontractors. This week I attended the #JAPBI conference in Cherry Hill, NJ, where the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) briefed contractors on upcoming CMMC requirements. The message was clear: Many companies across the Defense Industrial Base will need CMMC Level 2 certification with a third-party C3PAO assessment to continue competing for DoD contracts involving CUI. But one thing stood out. Many contractors, especially subcontractors, were hearing about this for the first time, or assumed CMMC didn’t apply to them. That disconnect shows up clearly in the external exposure assessments I run. Recently I analyzed a 12-person veteran-owned defense contractor. They had been targeted by a ransomware group 14 days earlier, and didn’t know. External analysis revealed: • 67% of employees with leaked credentials • No DMARC or DKIM configured • 92% probability of data exfiltration in simulated attack paths • Active DoD contracts All of this was visible through passive reconnaissance and publicly available data, the same view threat actors have. CMMC will raise the security baseline across the Defense Industrial Base. But based on what I saw at the conference and what I continue to see in OSINT exposure analysis - many organizations are starting this journey much later than they realize and should have.
