At Be the Change 2026, KIPP New Jersey is proud to honor the founders of SPARK Academy - leaders whose belief and commitment SPARKED a school rooted in possibility and purpose. SPARK led the way to the many elementary schools we now operate. We can’t wait to celebrate! Will you be there? Today, that vision comes full circle as SPARK Academy’s first class graduates from college, opening doors to new futures and lasting impact. • Our 2025 KIPP New Jersey Annual Report is now live. The progress we’re seeing in our schools since the pandemic is the result of clear curriculum alignment, strong coaching for teachers, and a deep commitment to family partnership. In the early grades, we’ve doubled down on structured literacy and phonics-based instruction. Across schools, we’ve tightened expectations around attendance and instructional time. And we’ve invested in developing and retaining experienced educators who know our communities well. The result: more students proficient in ELA and math, stronger attendance, and nearly 3,000 alumni over fifteen years earning four-year degrees at a rate that exceeds the national average for low-income students. The full report shares more details on what’s working and how we’re continuously growing in our efforts to support choice-filled lives for every student in our school communities. https://bit.ly/NJ2025AR

  • As we begin a new school year, we’re deeply grateful for educators like Carl Thomas, fourth-grade math lead teacher at KIPP SPARK Academy. Carl was recently featured by Chalkbeat Newark for the ways he builds confidence, fosters trust, and truly sees every child for who they are. In his classroom, students are empowered to learn, take risks, and grow both academically and personally. We’re inspired by his commitment and proud to see his impact recognized. Here’s to another year of helping every student grow! Check out his Q&A here: https://lnkd.in/gcqi__pu

  • This year’s Be the Change celebration was a powerful reminder of how far we’ve come as a community. Our student reporters from KIPP Seek Academy's 'Seek Speaks' school news program led an engaging conversation with NBC New York's Pat Battle. In addition to our students and alumni, we also honored board members Lisa Amato, Nick Colucci, and Amy Rosen for their support of our mission. We were joined by KIPP Public Schools CEO Shavar Jeffries, who reflected on his journey with KIPP as a founding Board Chair, and the milestones we’ve achieved since in expanding opportunity and equity for students. Thank you to all who joined us to celebrate and uplift our communities. We could not do it without your support!
