Feeding Epic Days & Wilder Lives
About us
Kodiak is one of the fastest growing food companies that is disrupting the industry with its better-for-you breakfast and snacking options. Our journey with food began by restoring the tradition of whole grain flapjacks and adding some protein to fuel folks' adventures. In the process, we discovered that foods made closer to nature are not only fueling but taste better. So, we set out to inspire wilder, wide-open lives by feeding epic days through real breakfasts. That’s one of the reasons we’re in the scenic Rocky Mountains of Park City, Utah: to live our purpose and be close to nature. Our mission is to become the most loved, next generation food brand, and we’re well on our way. We’re expanding rapidly as our business continues to grow year-after-year and need to build our team with people that share our passion for the outdoors, bring industry experience, thrive in an entrepreneurial culture, and want to make an impact in the food space. We believe that eating real, good-for-you food, being active outdoors, and preserving nature will restore balance generations before us worked so hard to forge. We embrace the spirit of the Kodiak – a pristine wilderness with a rich ecosystem – and we rely on that spirit of the Kodiak to inspire the work we do, the food we eat, and the way we play. Our roles feature highly competitive salary, generous benefits, a fun and open culture, all-you-can-eat flapjacks, and a unique set of perks tailored to those who love the outdoors and live the Kodiak Code. Kodiak fuels epic days, and our team knows a thing or two about those. Each month, we’re spotlighting one Kodiak employee and their latest adventure. These moments celebrate what happens when we step outside the Bear Den and live the Kodiak Code - camera optional, good stories required. Introducing an infamous adventurer here at Kodiak: Garrett Culligan Kodiak Question: What was your epic adventure, and what inspired it? Garrett Answer: I spent a month balancing work and play in El Chalten, Argentina. I have seen photos and read countless stories of climbers and alpinists having epic adventures in the Chalten massif. When the opportunity presented itself, I decided it was worth buying the plane ticket. Q: What was the most memorable moment? A: I didn’t have a climbing partner during the last good weather window, so despite having had a 2 day climb over the weekend and only one day of rest to recover, I took a day of PTO and decided to run the Huemul Circuit, a 42 mile backing route, in a day by myself. I ended up having a fantastic time running through glaciated terrain, crossing rivers, and seeing a few friendly guanacos while putting down 4,000 calories of Argentine candy. Q: What fueled you through the adventure (mentally or physically)? A: I was mostly fueled by the knowledge that ice cream from Domo Blanco was always waiting for me back in town. That and my morning Kodiak Berries & Cream PEAK Oatmeal kept me well balanced as I recovered from long outings and began planning the new ones in-between work emails. Epic days allow our team to come back recharged and stronger than ever. It’s a big world out there, and Garrett’s getting out to conquer it all - one climb at a time!

Kodiak’s journey has always been rooted in a simple idea: better-for-you food made with whole grains, protein, and real ingredients. From selling whole grain pancake mix out of a little red wagon to a pivotal moment on Shark Tank in 2014, we’ve continued to grow and innovate across breakfast — from waffles and granola to overnight oats — while staying true to that vision. Today, we’re focused on driving growth across our categories with the goal of becoming one of the most loved next-generation food brands. It’s a big goal and we’re all in. We’re proud to have shared our story with KSL News right here in Utah, where Kodiak was born and is still based today. To watch the full segment, click here: https://lnkd.in/gVUS_Y64

We don’t just talk about living epic—we go do it. Each month, we’re highlighting one Kodiak employee and their latest adventure outside the Bear Den. With February adventures fully wrapped up, meet our Epic Employee of the Month: John Oja Kodiak Question: What was your epic adventure, and what inspired it? John Answer: I recently went on a trip to Hakuba, Japan with some friends. It’s a trip we have talked about for years, and always found an excuse to put it off. Japan is known for its legendary powder skiing and we managed to score a couple days of some incredible snow during our trip. The inspiration came from watching countless ski films and reading books about the Japanese people and culture. Q: What made this “epic” to you?? A: Hakuba is not an easy place to get to, but that was part of the adventure! We flew into Tokyo, then took trains and busses to get to the Hakuba Valley. When you put in so much effort, and finally get rewarded with great snow and incredible views of the Japanese Alps, it’s hard not to say the entire trip was EPIC. I hadn’t done much traveling abroad in my adult life and this trip really pushed me out of my comfort zone in a way that I didn’t expect. Q: What was the most memorable moment (planned or unplanned)? A: Definitely the stormy pow day we had at Cortina Resort. We spent the entire day riding a two-person chairlift that had some of the best tree skiing I’ve ever experienced. Kodiak fuels epic days, and epic days fuel our team. The best stories often come from the people willing to push past their comfort zone. John stepped out of the bear den and into a deep powder playground – sounds pretty epic to us!

Here at Kodiak, we don’t just talk about living epic—we go do it, so each month we’re highlighting one Kodiak employee and their latest adventure. From snow days to weekend escapes to trips around the world, this series is all about getting outside, living the Kodiak Code, and bringing that energy back to the Bear Den. Our first Epic Employee? None other than Chandler Anderson sharing a sport he’s passionate about with his little one. Kodiak Q: What was your epic adventure, and what inspired it? Chandler's Answer: Skiing at Alta Ski Resort. Alta is a very special place for our family, we spend most winter weekends there and even got married there. Early season, my son mostly hung out on the patio while my wife and I took turns skiing, but he quickly grew bored of running laps around the tables and started stealing poles from the rack. His word of the month was “on,” and he’d proudly say “on” to every ski and pole he picked up. Q: What made this “epic” to you?? A: Getting to share a passion for skiing and the outdoors with my son. He was gifted skis on Christmas, skied for the first time on December 26, and celebrated his first birthday on December 27. It felt like a pretty special way to wrap up his 1st year of life. Q: What was the most memorable moment (planned or unplanned)? A: With mittens on, he couldn’t pick up the snow to eat it himself, so he solved the problem by lying flat on his stomach and eating the snow directly off the ground. Q: What’s one tip you’d share for anyone teaching their kids a new sport? A: Keep it fun. Never push for “one more lap” if you sense they’re losing interest or getting cold. And snacks in your pocket for chairlift or magic carpet rides are mandatory. Chandler and his family are living the Kodiak Code in real time: get outside, make it fun, pack the snacks, and bring those epic moments back to the Bear Den.
