As part of our Leadership Principles series, we highlight the values that ground how women across our community lead and live. This month, we reflect with Marjorie C. Williams, Esq.,MBA and Flo Ngala, two leaders whose work reminds us that meaningful leadership begins with making people feel seen. For Marjorie, leadership is anchored in compassion and empathy. She believes trust is built through the everyday moments—leading with clarity, accountability, and respect, while ensuring people feel valued throughout the process. Her commitment to staying aligned with her values shapes the decisions she makes, the relationships she builds, and the legacy she continues to create. For Flo, leadership begins with curiosity. Whether she's behind the camera or behind the scenes, she approaches every interaction with genuine interest, creating space for people to share their stories beyond their titles and accomplishments. Through connection, she reminds us that seeing the person is just as important as capturing the portrait. Together, their reflections remind us that leadership isn't only about guiding others—it's about creating spaces where people feel heard, valued, and truly seen.

In the midst of the energy and pace of Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, we made space to pause. Together with our partners at Warner Bros. Discovery and Yahoo, our programming brought together an inspiring community of women for a morning of meaningful conversation, connection, and restoration. It was an honor to welcome Andra Day alongside so many remarkable leaders who continue to shape culture, business, and creativity. Thank you to our partners Sheereen Miller-Russell and Alicin Reidy Williamson for helping create a space where community could gather, relationships could deepen, and women could simply enjoy being in conversation with one another.

I used to think if I worked hard enough, the equity would show up on its own. It does not. You have to go get it. Gender equity in business often gets framed as a values thing. It is a money thing. The companies betting on women in leadership are out-earning the ones that won’t. The data is clear but under this administration it feels like we are taking giant steps back. We’re still holding onto the moments that made this Summit so special. From transformative conversations to shared laughter and meaningful connection, this experience was a reminder of what happens when women come together with intention and purpose. This is more than a moment—it’s a movement we carry forward.

Nominations are now open for our 2026 Rising Leaders Program—a core expression of LWD’s commitment to investing in the next generation of women leaders—and we’re turning to our community to help us identify the next wave of changemakers. We’re seeking exceptional young women, ages 25–35, who are leading with intention, purpose, and impact across sectors and disciplines.⁠ ⁠The journey begins with our in-person Rising Leaders Summit this November, followed by a 9-month mentorship experience rooted in connection, reflection, and growth, with continued learning and community carried forward through the Leadership Lab, our virtual programming series.
