Happy Trivia Thursday Terps! Question of the day: What do UMD students do at basketball games as the opposing team is being introduced? The answer is... Read The Diamondback! While there is no clear idea of when this tradition started, The Diamondback was created in 1910. This means it could have began as early as 100+ years ago 🐢🏀 What's YOUR favorite UMD tradition? #StayFearlessUMD #TerpsBasketball

Happy Maryland Monday, Terps!🐢 Today we celebrate one of our favorite floor generals of all-time: Steve Blake '03! Steve made his mark in Maryland basketball history as the point guard who helped lead the Terps to their first ever NCAA Championship in 2002. A fan favorite for his determination on the court, Blake went on to play 13 seasons in the NBA and later returned to the league as a coach for the Portland Trail Blazers and the Phoenix Suns 🏀 From Xfinity Center to the pros: Once a Terp, always a Terp! #MarylandMonday #UMDproud #TerpAlum #SteveBlake #UMDBasketball

Happy Maryland Monday, Terps! 🐢 From College Park to the Super Bowl, Vernon Davis '07 created a legacy of excellence and strength. During his time as a Terp, Davis racked up 1,371 career receiving yards, which was the most by a tight end in Maryland history at the time, and was a First-Team All-American and All-ACC honoree in 2005. He went on to be the 6th overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft; Playing in the NFL for 14 seasons he became a 2x Pro Bowler and Super Bowl 50 Champion! Why Maryland? Vernon said it best: “I HAD to be a Terp. Because I knew deep down inside that it would mean so much to my family and the people in my community.” ❤️ It is with great Terrapin pride to share that Vernon Davis is going to be inducted into the Gridiron Greats Hall of Fame, which "honors former NFL players not just for their career performances, but for their charitable work off the field".
