Let's build a more sustainable world together by ending the exploitation of animals for food.

About us

Mercy For Animals believes that a humane society is possible. We are committed to reducing the greatest amount of suffering for the largest number of animals. Our efforts focus on protecting farmed animals—the most abused and exploited animals on the planet—and utilize a broad range of strategic approaches that seek to expose cruelty, prosecute abusers, and inspire consumers to make compassionate food choices. We are on the frontlines fighting to protect farmed animals. From factory farms to corporate boardrooms, courts of justice to courts of public opinion, MFA is there to speak up against cruelty, and for compassion.

  • Here's to 10 years! 👏🥳🎉 Congratulations to Mercy For Animals India!

Reflecting on a massive milestone today: 10 years of Mercy For Animals in India! 🥂✨ When we started this journey a decade ago, the vision was simple, but seeing how far we’ve come and the incredible team, partners, and community who built this alongside us is truly humbling. Personally, the last six years as CEO of Mercy For Animals India have been one of the most meaningful and fulfilling chapters of my professional journey. MFA has constantly pushed me to grow, challenge my own assumptions, and step far outside my comfort zone. It has taught me to think bigger, take difficult decisions, and stay focused on impact even when the path ahead is uncertain. Most importantly, the experience has helped me grow beyond being a campaigner. It has taught me the importance of building teams, managing an organisation, making strategic decisions, and becoming a better administrator and leader. I am deeply grateful for everything these six years have taught me, and for the incredible people I have had the privilege of working alongside. A huge, heartfelt thank you to Parag Agarwal and Sethu Vaidyanathan, who were among MFA’s earliest supporters and have continued to stand by us throughout this journey. Your belief and support have meant so much! ❤️ Harshdeep Singh, for being my first co-worker and support at MFA. I am still a big fan of your writing! Lucas Alvarenga, Thank you for being the wonderful, compassionate human that you are. The world is better because of people like you Gauri Maulekhi — these years simply wouldn’t be complete without your incredible, contagious energy and passion! 🙌 Alokparna Sengupta , PRIYANKA BANGARI and Shreya Paropkari — thank you for being such strong, fearless voices for animals and for everything you bring to this movement. 🐾 Last, but not the least Jayasimha Nuggehalli 🔸, a great friend, a great mentor and because of whom I got the opportunity to lead this wonderful organisation. Feeling incredibly grateful for everyone who has been part of these 10 years. And this is only the beginning! Here’s to the next chapter — bigger, bolder, and with an even greater impact for animals! 🚀🐾 #10Years #Anniversary #CompanyMilestone #Leadership #Growth #Animals

  • Right now, farmed animals are packed into metal trailers in extreme heat, enduring grueling journeys without any protection from the elements—and many die before they even arrive. Think about the temperature outside. If it’s too hot to leave a dog in a car, how is it legal to transport farmed animals in boiling metal trailers? Their lives depend on our choices. Choose plant-based for them: bit.ly/MFAHEV #LiveTransportTruck #TransportTruck #LiveAnimalTransport #HeatWave #ExtremeHeat

  • Friendly reminder to be nice to bugs and insects! 🦋🐞🐜 Insects make up over 80% of all land species and literally keep our planet running. They decompose waste, enrich our soil, and pollinate the crops and flowers we rely on every single day. Yet, massive land clearing and heavy pesticide use in agriculture, including on crops used for farmed animal feed, are destroying essential pollinators like bees, butterflies, and beetles. Saving our multi-legged neighbors starts with rethinking our food systems. ❤️🐛 Protect the bugs, protect the planet! 🐝🌾✨ bit.ly/MFAHEV #Bugs #Insects #Crops #Pollinators #Bees #Butterflies #Beetles

  • Max was bred for meat—meant to live just 6 to 8 weeks. But today, against all odds, he’s 2 years old, thriving at The Chicken Rescue Sanctuary, and showing the world that chickens deserve a life of dignity, safety, and love. 🐔🧡 While Max found his happy ending, millions of gentle souls are still trapped in horrific conditions. Mercy For Animals uncovered heartbreaking cruelty tied directly to Costco’s chicken supply chain, highlighting the corporation’s ongoing failure to adopt concrete, enforceable chicken welfare standards. With over 250 million chickens like Max in its supply chain every year, Costco has the power to eliminate this suffering. Until meaningful, systemic reforms are made, millions of lives remain at risk. Max found his freedom—now it’s time to fight for the birds still trapped in factory farms. • Costco is choosing a system of abuse over basic decency. Animals and members deserve better! This investigation is not about one bad farm or one abusive manager. With over 250 million chickens in its supply chain each year, Costco has the power to prevent this suffering. Until systemic reforms happen, animals will likely continue to suffer under these conditions. Mercy For Animals has submitted complaints to law enforcement and the USDA, and we won’t stop fighting, but we can’t do it alone. Your support is the key to exposing cruelty and securing the protections these animals deserve. If you haven’t had the chance to give yet, NOW is the moment. Every gift helps us keep the pressure on Costco, launch new investigations, and continue progress towards a more compassionate food system. Hold Costco accountable at CostcoExposed.com and donate any amount now at https://lnkd.in/gMYexqr5 #Costco #CostcoExposed #OrganicChicken

  • Exciting news out of California! 👏 🎉 The City of Campbell just adopted its first-ever Climate Action and Adaptation Plan, a strategic roadmap that officially recognizes the environmental benefits of plant-based eating. The plan recommends that the city procure more plant-based foods, educate the public on the benefits of plant-forward diets, and track the lifecycle climate impacts of various food categories, including meat and dairy. This effort was driven forward by a dedicated local advocate, Ulka Agarwal, and Mercy For Animals was proud to support her successful advocacy. By encouraging local governments to prioritize plant-based options, we can reduce our reliance on industrial animal agriculture and spare countless animals from a life of suffering. • Congratulations to The Transfarmation Project on the opening of their new demonstration hub at 1100 Farm—a farm that once raised thousands of pigs for slaughter and is now focusing on specialty mushrooms. The demonstration hub is an important center for learning and trialing farming techniques that will inform the future of farm transitions across the country. 💕

The ribbon-cutting at 1100 Farm was one of the most memorable experiences in our organization's history. We're so grateful to each and every one of you for helping to make this farm transition a reality. Join the movement for a better food system at https://lnkd.in/gV4CePAV
