Our work seeks to embolden and empower the working class to engage in building our democracy for the betterment of all working Americans. As part of our ongoing series highlighting our Roosevelt in Washington fellows, we’re shining a spotlight on Jazmyn D., who is interning this summer with More Perfect Union (MPU), an Emmy Award-winning advocacy journalism organization focused on “building power for the working class.” For Jazmyn, a Political Science major at Chestnut Hill College with concentrations in Philosophy and Legal Studies, that work is connected to both her studies and her personal view of politics: “[MPU] equips the working class with knowledge to combat policies and circumstances that are designed to appeal to and favor the ultra-rich at workers' expense.” As a part of the Roosevelt Network, Jazmyn recognizes that achieving progressive outcomes like the kind that MPU fights for requires “playing to your strengths in order to work alongside those who share the same desired end, and living a life of consideration for economic, social, political and environmental justice.”
