Timm Wooten’s career in real estate began early. “I had a couple real estate internships when I was an undergraduate and ended up really liking the people, so I figured that was as good a place as any to start,” says the senior associate, who has called Houston home for most of his life. “Over the next five years I worked in various disciplines across the industry, from debt origination, to brokerage, and so on. All the while, I never shook the question as to whether this was something I really wanted to do or if it was something I just fell into. I got my chance to find out when I was accepted to Rice University to do my MBA, and took an internship for a corporate finance role. I very quickly learned that the camaraderie and culture I had taken for granted in real estate was not easily found elsewhere. A few years later, a mutual friend connected me to a fellow Rice alum who eventually invited me to join Rockefeller Group’s new Southwest regional office as his first associate. Easiest decision I ever made.”
