  • Last week we published our monthly Fashion Brand Global Social Index, tracking 50 of the world's leading brands across Instagram and TikTok. We’ve crunched the numbers, and the Top 20 list is officially live. A peek into how the top players are actually winning: 💌 Less is more when done with intent: Hollister claimed the #1 overall spot with a 90.0 score. They achieved this viral traction by working with just 49 unique Instagram creators. For comparison, Zara landed at #20 despite deploying a massive 728 creators. 💌 Style education over simple OOTD’s: Audiences are leaning heavily toward creators who act as style educators and value-adders over traditional OOTD formats. Winning strategies now prioritise actionable utility, like colour theory, body-type proportions, and layering mechanics. 💌 The Boardroom Glow-Up: Top brands and retailers are elevating creators from being mere content suppliers to acting as long-term creative contributors and board-level advisors. 💌 Paid vs. Organic: Sportswear giants Nike and The North Face relied on 100% paid TikTok placements to secure their top-tier reach. Conversely, brands like Hollister and Stradivarius earned their momentum entirely through organic creator advocacy. Download the index for the full scope, link in the comments 💋

  • This week, the theme of ✨ Fandom ✨ took over. Chipotle Mexican Grill cashed in on tween veto power by crowning creator/long-term fan Salish Matter with her own digital-only menu item; The Walt Disney Company officially integrated creator-made fan content into its core engine, and ASOS.com turned brand advocate Farron Clark; who sold out their jacket into an official Marketing Insider. Each week, we're unpacking the signals shaping social, creators and commerce - adding context behind the scroll, and the takeaways brands should actually pay attention to. Stay tuned for the next one 🎤 💌

  • We’ve come a long way….🤣👇🏼

Today is Socially Powerful ’s summer party. Our first company party in 2017 had five people. Two crates of Peroni, a wrong Nando’s delivery and a sh*tty office on an industrial estate in West London. Majid dressed as Santa Claus, wore a pair of sunglasses and delivered an hour-long PowerPoint about our first few months in business. He passionately explained how we were going to hit our wildly ambitious target of £2m revenue in year one. Our first two employees sat on the sofa trying to take him seriously, with me and Tassilo necking bottles of beer to pass the time. The party was crap, but I’ll never forget it. I can still remember sitting in that tiny office, watching Santa trying to convince four people that we were going to build something enormous. Fast-forward to today and we’re more than 200 people globally. But our company parties started with a French Santa Claus, sat on the floor in our sh*t office and one of the worst nights out I’ve ever had 🤣

  • Hollister partnered with 49 unique creators this month and still managed to climb up 32 ranks to #1 of the index. In July, we tracked 50 of the world's leading fashion brands across Instagram and TikTok, scoring them out of 100 across four proprietary pillars: Brand Presence, Partnership Power, Partnership Effectiveness, and Earned Love. A peak into what July's Data Revealed: 🗨️ Depth Over Volume: Hollister shot up +32 spots to claim #1 overall with a 90.0 score. Instead of spreading budget thin, they concentrated 379 TikTok posts across 49 partners – generating the month’s most-viewed collab post (22.9M views). 🗨️From Static 'Fit-Checks' to Style Intelligence: Audiences are leaning heavily toward creators who act as style educators, curators, and value-adders over traditional OOTD formats. Winning creator strategies prioritise actionable utility: colour theory, layering mechanics, body-type proportions, and hidden retail finds, making the product a functional protagonist. 🗨️Paid investment tells its own story this month: Within the top 5, Nike and The North Face's top TikTok content was entirely paid, while Hollister and Stradivarius's strongest posts came through largely organic. In 2019, we opened Socially Powerful’s first international office. It had no windows, two chairs and an AC unit that stank. It did, however, have a landline…which I don't think ever got used. Welcome to Socially Powerful Beijing 😂 The finishing touch? Our company name printed on a piece of A4 paper and stuck to the door. Very professional. But opening that office completely changed the business. For the first time, we had employees working in another country, culture and time zone. People whose salaries, careers and daily problems had become our responsibility. We’d go to bed thinking we’d solved everything. We’d wake up eight hours later to an entirely new list of problems. It taught us how differently decisions land in another culture. How difficult it is to manage people remotely. And that opening an international office involves much more than finding a room and sticking your name on the door. The office was terrible. But I’m not sure we’ve ever learned more from one room.
