To Our 1 Hotels Community, Earth Day is a moment to reflect on the responsibility we share, to protect the planet and to consider the role we can each play in shaping a more thoughtful future. As we pause, I’m filled with gratitude for our global community of guests, team members, partners, and changemakers who continue to support and advance this work every day. Our mission remains constant. We believe we are here to do good, and that belief guides our decisions across everything we do. Sustainability is not something we react to. It is something we believe in. It shapes how we design, how we operate, and how we continue to evolve in service of our planet. Over the last year, we’ve marked continued growth for our brand with the opening of 1 Hotel Copenhagen, 1 Hotel Melbourne, and 1 Hotel Tokyo, bringing our nature-inspired approach to two new global cities. Each new property is designed with intention: to connect guests more deeply to nature while operating with environmental responsibility at the forefront. We also introduced one of our most important initiatives to date: Mission Membership, a global platform designed to turn travel into measurable environmental and community impact. Through Mission, in partnership with organizations including the Arbor Day Foundation, Oceanic Global, the Natural Resources Defense Council and Green Our Planet, we support reforestation, ocean conservation, and environmental education, giving back with every stay. Mission Membership also comes with a curated assortment of perks, from exclusive rates and late check-out to personalized touches, so that you can care for the planet while enjoying a stay that feels entirely your own. We know this work is ongoing. But together, we will continue to move forward with purpose, staying true to our mission and doing all the good we can. Humbly, Raul Leal CEO, Starwood Hotels Read more: https://lnkd.in/gghKhuzm

Grateful to Rolando Aedo and the GMCVB team for their leadership, and thank you for the recognition. Most of all, proud of our team at 1 Hotel South Beach for making real progress and proving what’s possible when sustainability is treated as a standard, not a slogan. #SustainableMiami #GreenKeyGlobal #SustainableTourism #GreaterMiamiHotels #gmcvb #1hotels Milton Sgarbi Paula Lombardo

  • Small actions can make a lasting impact, especially when they’re done together. Grateful to our Starwood Hotels Home Office team and 1 Hotel West Hollywood for showing up for a beach cleanup in Santa Monica and giving back to a place that gives so much to all of us. Thank you to everyone who rolled up their sleeves, paid it forward, and helped keep our coastline beautiful.

Carly Van Sickle, our VP of Brand Marketing, spoke at ADWEEK House in Austin during SXSW, sharing where experiential marketing is headed. The big theme: the “era of spectacle” is fading away. It’s less about big, flashy moments and more about creating real, community-driven experiences people actually want to be part of. There was also a strong focus on driving real impact (not just buzz) and creating moments that live beyond an event itself. Carly joined a panel moderated by ADWEEK’s Kathryn Lundstrom alongside leaders from Pinterest, Viral Nation, PopSockets, Grillo’s Pickles, Hello Party, and Accenture Song, getting into what it really takes to build a memorable brand today. #StarwoodHotels

During Women’s History Month, we recognize and celebrate all the women who shape Starwood Hotels every day. Across our hotels and teams, women bring leadership, creativity, expertise, and passion to the work they do. Their contributions strengthen our culture, inspire our communities, and help move our mission forward. This month is an opportunity to reflect on the impact women have made throughout history and to celebrate the voices, achievements, and perspectives of the women across our organization who continue to shape what’s next.

Marking our debut in Japan, 1 Hotel Tokyo rises as a sanctuary in the sky. Set high within the Akasaka Trust Tower, it overlooks the Imperial Palace gardens, Tokyo Tower, and the city skyline. “Even amid the modern architecture and commotion, there’s a sense of peace,” says Barry Sternlicht. “With 1 Hotel Tokyo, we wanted to capture some of that harmonious tranquility.” Inside, Tokyo’s natural landscapes come to life through thoughtful design. Reclaimed woods, Oya stone, moss-covered textures, and living greenery shape spaces inspired by the quiet beauty of wabi-sabi, reflecting Japan’s deep connection to nature and craftsmanship. From morning to evening, the hotel’s spaces invite guests to gather, unwind, and explore. Three distinct venues—NiNi, Spotted Stone, and Neighbors Café—draw locals and travelers alike into spaces designed for connection, comfort, and a sense of belonging. “Designing 1 Hotel Tokyo was about finding harmony between our philosophy and Japan’s extraordinary culture of craft and materiality,” says Raul Leal, CEO of Starwood Hotels. Reflecting Starwood Hotels’ long-standing commitment to planet-first hospitality alongside Japan’s tradition of mindful living, the hotel has earned CASBEE S certification, Japan’s highest environmental rating. This reflects 1 Hotels’ belief that thoughtful design and meaningful comfort can, and should, coexist. 1 Hotel Tokyo is now open. • Nearly a year after reintroducing the name Starwood Hotels to the world, our mission remains the same. As Raul Leal shares, this next chapter is about signaling our return, not as the same Starwood of the past, but as a platform built for intentional growth and long-term vision.

Though the company's name changed nearly a year ago, Starwood Hotels still has the same mission. “The objective was to send a signal to the world that it’s back,” Starwood Hotels President and CEO Raul Leal said in an interview about the March 2025 rebranding of SH Hotels & Resorts. “It’s not the same Starwood, but it’s certainly a platform for growth.” Read more here: https://bit.ly/4rONxA2

As our CEO Raul Leal shared in Skift, our growth is intentional. Rather than building toward 1,000 hotels, we are focused on a portfolio of distinctive properties with the right partners who share a long-term vision. In a market where many brands try to be everywhere, Starwood Hotels is deliberate about where and how we grow. We choose locations that fit the brand and partner with owners who think long term. We maintain a consistent service standard across every property because discipline protects value. A smaller, curated portfolio can outperform when it is built with conviction. That focus strengthens pricing power and builds lasting guest loyalty. Read more: https://lnkd.in/e4KemuJD
