Congratulations to The Guardian's chess writer Leonard Barden who, 70 years ago today, filed his first chess column for the Manchester Guardian. Since that first column in 1955, Leonard has filed a weekly column, uninterrupted, making him one the world's longest-serving chess correspondents in history. Leonard has seen it all in chess - from spotting the future world champion Garry Kasparov at a young age and tipping him for greatness, to playing against the legendary Bobby Fischer. His weekly column is a must for chess enthusiasts everywhere. ♟️ Read Sean Ingle's inspiring interview with Leonard here: https://lnkd.in/emr62GhN
