Have you seen the red moon? Although not visible from the United States this time around, many people around the world were able to witness an uncommon phenomenon during this lunar eclipse, which turns the moon a striking red color. Earlier this year, though, Americans did catch a glimpse of a March total lunar eclipse, which is also referred to as a "blood moon." A federal appeals court refused to throw out an $83.3 million jury verdict against President Donald Trump for damaging the reputation of writer E. Jean Carroll in 2019 when he denied her rape claim. The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan rejected Trump's argument that the January 2024 verdict should be overturned because he deserved presidential immunity from Carroll's lawsuit. Miya Walker, 25, wasn't worried about juggling work and motherhood when she was pregnant in 2021. Her job was remote, and her mom was around to help with the baby. But after her son was born, Walker's employer pushed going back to the office, her mom's health declined and she couldn't afford child care. Walker quit. “I feel like, a lot of women, we’re educated, and we have the ability to work, and we want to contribute to the workforce," Walker said. "It's just, you know, circumstances. So staying in, if at all possible, is much better for a long-term career perspective.” The research is "pretty clear," said Lauren Bauer, a fellow in economic studies at The Brookings Institution. "If you exit the labor market or take a step back when you’re young, there are benefits to it, but they’re not usually financial." Read more here from USA TODAY: https://lnkd.in/gu9dsncT
