I had the privilege of volunteering at the first in-person ViteConf on October 9–10, and it was an incredible experience. It was amazing working with and learning from Jos Gerards, the organizer of ViteConf and DEVWorld Conference, and connecting with passionate volunteers, speakers, and developers from different parts of the world. Throughout the conference, I learned so much from the inspiring lineup of speakers, discovering new tools, integrations, and updates for some of my favorites like Vite, Vitest, Nuxt, Nitro, Netlify, and Astro, which I’m excited to explore soon. I’m also looking forward to trying out Vite+ soon. One of the highlights for me was chatting with Sarah Rainsberger, Astro Core Maintainer & Docs Lead, after her talk on Making Meaningful Open Source Contributions. We talked about how our communities onboard new contributors, and she shared how Astro recognizes even the smallest contributions, such as commenting on an issue or helping with triage. It was a great reminder that every contribution counts in open source. I also had great conversations with Evan You (Creator of VueJs & Vite), Daniel Roe 🏡 Roe (Core Team Lead, Nuxt), and Joe Tannenbaum (Core Team Member, Laravel). Daniel Roe 🏡 and I discussed contributing to the Nuxt project and how new contributors can get started. I also shared about the work we do at Mautic Marketing Automation, and it was exciting to hear that he has used the tool before. After that conversation, I made my first contribution to Nuxters, a project by the Nuxt community that helps contributors track and showcase their impact across the Nuxt ecosystem. I created an issue I noticed while exploring the website, and I’m looking forward to making more contributions to the Nuxt ecosystem. Another memorable moment was watching the Vite Documentary by Cult.Repo. It told the story of how Vite started and evolved into the powerful tool it is today. What stood out to me most about the speakers was how they all contribute to different open-source projects beyond the ones they lead or created. That’s the real beauty of open source: collaboration, curiosity, and giving back. I left ViteConf inspired, grateful, and even more motivated to continue contributing to the open-source tools that make our work as developers so exciting. Looking forward to Vue.js Conference Amsterdam next year. #ViteConf2025 #Vite #opensource #contributions #ViteConf
