The Same House is pleased to welcome Al Mead as Executive Director of The Same House - Fayetteville, Georgia. Al brings more than 25 years of experience building alignment across civic, faith, education, business, and nonprofit sectors in Fayette County, Georgia. For 26 years, he has served as Community Outreach Pastor at New Hope Church, leading cross-sector partnerships that connect local institutions with families, schools, nonprofits, and civic leaders across the county. Beyond the church, Al serves as Board President of Trilith LIVE (Fayetteville Center for the Arts) and previously served on the Fayette Chamber of Commerce (GA) Board of Directors. He is widely recognized for his ability to convene diverse stakeholders and translate complex initiatives into clear, accessible communication that builds trust and understanding. Al also brings a national and global leadership perspective from his background in elite athletics: a Paralympic gold medalist (1988 Seoul) and silver medalist (1992 Barcelona), former world-record holder, and past Vice Chair of the 1996 Atlanta Paralympic Organizing Committee. He currently serves as President of the Georgia Chapter of the U.S. Olympians & Paralympians Association (USOPA). As Executive Director, Al will lead The Same House-Fayetteville, GA as a community quarterback organization— convening civic, faith, education, business, and nonprofit leaders around shared purpose and long-term prosperity for Fayette County. An accomplished development executive, she is recognized for strategic thinking, communications expertise, and a rare ability to build relationships that drive organizational growth — with a dedicated focus on the region's most influential business and civic leadership. Her work advancing race relations has been featured by The New York Times Magazine, Time, NPR, and Spin. As Vice President of Advancement, Anna will oversee fundraising strategy and signature events, including the Beloved Benefit. Freedom has been announced — but freedom must be built. This month's Transform Westside Summit, "District 3 in Motion: City Updates, Community Priorities, and the Future of the Westside," fell on Juneteenth — a day that gave the morning's conversations special weight, centering on what it takes for longtime residents to continue to thrive on Atlanta's historic Westside. The morning opened with a devotion and Juneteenth reflection from Rodney Bullard J.D. MBA, AMP, President & CEO of The Same House, who traced the hard-fought steps that carried freedom forward and reminded attendees that the work of building a stronger Westside belongs to each of us. Attendees were then treated to a celebratory performance from young people in Music Without Limits (MWL), introduced by Program Manager Destiny Motley — a powerful reminder that investing in the future means investing in young people today. The featured conversation brought City of Atlanta Councilmember Byron Amos together with WFF President & CEO John Ahmann for a candid discussion on the opportunities and challenges facing District 3 — from infrastructure and housing to economic development and support for senior residents. As Amos put it, "we have to do something different with our people before we can do something different with our dirt," pointing to solutions to keep legacy residents rooted in the community they helped build.
