WellSpan Evangelical Community Hospital has been awarded a grant from the Ralph and Josephine Smith Fund at First Community Foundation Partnership of Pennsylvania to support the purchase of infusion chairs for the future cancer center being developed as part of WellSpan's expanding oncology services in the Central Susquehanna Valley. "We are grateful to the First Community Foundation Partnership of Pennsylvania and the Ralph and Josephine Smith Fund for investing in the future of cancer care in the Central Susquehanna Valley," said Allen Fasnacht DNP, MSN, RN, CENP, vice president, WellSpan Health, and president, WellSpan Evangelical Community Hospital. The new infusion chairs funded through the grant will help create a comfortable, patient-centered environment for individuals receiving cancer treatment locally, reducing travel burdens and increasing access to care close to family, friends and support systems. When every moment matters, access to advanced cardiac care close to home makes a difference. Our newly upgraded cardiac catheterization lab at WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital will help ensure patients continue to have access to high-quality cardiac care in Lebanon County when they need it most. The lab features a modernized space, expanded electrophysiology capabilities and a new imaging system. The renovation builds on recent national recognition for the hospital. In the 2026-2027 U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals rankings, WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital was recognized for heart and vascular care — one of several WellSpan hospitals recognized for cardiovascular services across the system.

Congratulations are in order! 🎉 The WellSpan Dr. Roy A. Himelfarb Surgery Center in Chambersburg was recently recognized by Newsweek as one of America’s Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers for 2026. This marks six consecutive years of national recognition and reflects the incredible dedication of the physicians, clinicians and all team members who deliver exceptional care every day.

A century of service at WellSpan Evangelical Community Hospital – and we’re just getting started! 1️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ Last week, WellSpan Evangelical Community Hospital welcomed community leaders, donors, volunteers and health care professionals to celebrate 100 years during a milestone luncheon and dedication ceremony. The event commemorated the past with the dedication of a new Centennial Display situated on the hospital’s campus – honoring the progress, innovation and compassionate care that has led to this milestone. “Our commitment is to create a health care experience that puts people first and makes care simpler, more meaningful and more responsive,” shared Niki Hinckle, WellSpan senior vice president, North and West Regions. “The future we envision will be built through innovation, access and partnership with people who share our commitment to improving the health of our communities.” 

What a great weekend on the field! 🥎 Our WellSpan Sports Medicine team was honored to provide on-site care and support for athletes competing in the Special Olympics of Pennsylvania Softball Championship in Palmyra. From first pitch to final out, our team was there to help athletes stay healthy and safe so they could focus on what mattered most: playing the game they love. Thank you to the athletes, coaches, families and volunteers who made the tournament such a memorable event.

Three WellSpan hospitals have been honored by The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania for their excellent performance ensuring patient safety. 👏 The Excellence in Patient Safety Recognition program honors Pennsylvania’s top-performing hospitals, using data from the CDC’s National Healthcare Safety Network measuring key infection rates – including central line-associated bloodstream infections, catheter-associated UTI and C-Diff. Congratulations to our teams at WellSpan York Hospital, WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital and WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital who were honored as recipients of the 2026 Excellence in Patient Safety Recognition! 

Today, we’re #WellSpanProud to announce that we are strengthening our commitment to providing expert orthopedic care with the expansion of our orthopedic team to welcome 12 new physicians. Eight of the new physicians have already joined the orthopedics team so far this year, alongside other WellSpan Orthopedics and Sports Medicine professionals to expand access for patients in Carlisle, Ephrata, Gettysburg, Hanover, Lancaster, Lebanon, Lewisburg and York.
