Nour Nabil posted thisToday, Chrome is officially introducing a new set of experimental Ad metrics to the Chrome User Experience Report (CrUX). The release expands on existing CrUX data by reporting on four new dimensions focusing on a site's ad experience: 📊 Ad Count: The average number of ads visible in the viewport. 📐 Ad Density: The average fraction of the viewport area occupied by ads. 🌐 Ad Weight (Network Usage): The network resources consumed by ads, measured in KB. 💻 Ad Weight (CPU Usage): The CPU resources consumed by ads, measured in milliseconds. To view these metrics you can use the CrUX API and the CrUX History APIs and for sites with third party ads through CrUX Vis https://lnkd.in/g7GTchxB Check out the Chrome for Developers documentation to learn more about how to access and use these new signals: https://lnkd.in/gvBxeFTi

Nour Nabil reposted thisNour Nabil reposted thisThe videos from I/O Connect Berlin are now live on the Chrome for Developers YouTube channel 🎉 My session is covering Modern Web Guidance, why AI agents default to outdated web patterns, and what happens when you give them the right context upfront. Live demos and internet connectivity don't always cooperate at in-person events... but we got there in the end 😄 Curious though, how are people handling live demos with AI agents these days? The awkward wait while the agent thinks, the moment it decides to crash mid-demo 🙈 there must be some good strategies out there. Let me know👇 Modern Web Guidance is genuinely useful if you're building with AI coding tools, it's a set of expert-vetted skills that help coding agents build for the modern web. We've seen a 33 percentage point improvement in agent correctness when it's installed. Link to the video in the first comment. #ChromeDev #ModernWebGuidance #AgenticCoding #WebDev #DevRel

Nour Nabil reacted on thisNour Nabil reacted on thisI'm excited to share that I'm starting a new role at Google, leading Cross-Google Trust Strategy, AI and Content Ecosystems. It comes after five years on Chrome, a period in which AI began changing what people expect from a browser. I'm grateful to have been close to that, alongside people who care a lot about the open web. I also made real friends, and that's the part I'll miss most. Chrome was a place I was glad to show up to every day. To the Chrome team, thank you for the sharp debates and for everything you taught me. I'll be cheering from close by. Looking forward to what's next.

It shows frontier performance in complex workflows, cyber defense and software engineering. Teams are using it extensively at Google, from coding to quantum computing, great feedback. Importantly Argon has frontier safeguards and we are rolling it out responsibly - it’s with the US gov’t and going to a set of trusted cyber defenders through our Fairwind Program today. We’re going to make it available as soon as we can and as safely as we can. So hold tight, lots more coming, and you’re going to see us iterating rapidly. https://lnkd.in/gTiQb7DA

Nour Nabil reacted on thisBuilding a thriving culture has always been just as important to us as our commercial metrics. So proud of the team for hitting an employee NPS of +63. We're growing the team further. We're looking for cracked founding software engineers to join us. DM me if you're interested or if anyone comes to mind.Nour Nabil reacted on thisOur team has just given Klyk an Employee NPS of +63, and we couldn't be prouder. We're 22 people today, and over the next year we're aiming to more than double that. Before you grow that fast, you want to know the foundations can take the weight. That score tells us they can. Culture & energy is also something I care deeply about. Beyond all the tech, it really is the oxygen that fuels a fast-growth business. As a B Corp, how we treat our people is part of how we measure success, and there's no better judge of that than the team itself. A huge credit to Catherine (Wilberforce) Allen for her incredible mentoring and work & a huge thanks to Zahid Khimji's mum for the most incredible Cake to celebrate! 🎂 And most of all huge well done to the DREAM TEAM! 👏

Nour Nabil reacted on thisNour Nabil reacted on thisWebMCP gives agents tools from a website. MCP Apps brings UI into the agent for the human. So what happens when a WebMCP tool returns an MCP App? ❓ ❓ Together with Liad Yosef, co-creator of MCP Apps, we built a small experiment to find out: Form / Factor, a home-gym page where the agent calls a page tool, and the tool hands back a MCP Apps. You move the sliders in the agent's side panel, and the recommendation updates on the live website (also using WebMCP tools!). It works - but only through a custom extension. WebMCP has tools only, so a few MCP Apps pieces had to move into the tool result. That raised some fun questions 🤔 : 1️⃣ Should the UI travel in the result, or be declared up front? 2️⃣ What if nobody is there to see it? 3️⃣ If the agent can click "confirm" itself, who actually approved the action? 4️⃣ Who should move - WebMCP or MCP Apps? We wrote a blog post where we share our thoughts and on GitHub you will find the demo we are showing on video! Links in comments :) P.S. The proposals are our own, not positions of either group. We'd love to hear what you think!

Nour Nabil reacted on thisNour Nabil reacted on thisNext up in the Modern Web Guidance video series 🙂 Scroll-driven animations used to need lots of JavaScript. Now the browser can handle them natively, but your coding agent doesn't always know that. In this video, I use an agent with and without Modern Web Guidance to build scroll entry and exit effects using what the platform already offers. I went to an Arize AI coding meetup expecting engineers; I left thinking “building” just got a lot more inclusive. Yesterday I attended the Arize AI Builders Meetup in NYC, and the session on “Boosting Claude Code performance with prompt learning” was packed with practical ideas. But what stuck with me most wasn’t just the content, it was the mix of people in the room. At the Arize meetup I attended about 2 years ago, most conversations were with deeply technical folks. This time, many people I met were non-engineers who are now building fast with agentic tools like Claude Code. People are moving from idea to working prototype much faster, even without traditional software backgrounds. That feels like a generational shift in who gets to build. Slides from the talk: https://lnkd.in/ew4Tfuts For those of you in non-technical roles: are you already using AI tools to build things directly, or still mostly using them for research/writing? #AI #ClaudeCode #PromptLearning #NYC

During a recent discussion on how LLMs and agents are changing programming workflows, I realised that one of the deepest shifts we're experiencing is in the theory <-> code iteration itself. Before LLMs, we usually began with a fairly detailed mental model - a theory of how the system should work. The code was an expression of that understanding. When something broke, it meant our theory was incomplete or wrong, so we refined the understanding and rewrote the code. In other words, understanding preceded code. Now, with LLMs and agents, that order has been effectively reversed. With LLMs, we often start with only a vague sense of direction. The LLM generates working code, and our job becomes to understand both the code and the problem space simultaneously. The code leads, and the theory follows. Interestingly, this now leads to us programmers feeling as the slowest cog in the machine. We're used to starting with understanding - where the real cognitive effort happened invisibly, before you ever wrote code. Now, since code comes first and cheaply, we're forced to build understanding afterward, and that mental effort suddenly becomes visible. So next time you get that feeling of being the "slowest cog", remember that it's not that you've slowed down. It's just that the locus of difficulty has now moved - from construction to comprehension. But comprehension remains as essential as ever.

My talk from AUC's Dev World is now up: https://lnkd.in/gaBNiEsV Some developers just seem to fly when things get hectic — when bugs pop up, deadlines tighten, or priorities shift overnight. What’s their secret sauce? In this talk, I share the habits, mindsets, and workflows that help you move fast without cutting corners or sacrificing quality. You’ll learn how to shorten your debug loop, master your IDE, terminal tricks, and build a mental map of your team’s work to avoid reinventing the wheel. I explore why sometimes slowing down to really understand a problem can actually speed you up, and how small automations and smart documentation can multiply your impact. Whether you’re at a scrappy startup or a big company, junior or senior, this talk is for anyone who wants to get sharper, stay calm under pressure, and deliver better, faster. If you have any more tips, I'd love to hear them.

The first meetup I ever spoke at was React Advanced London back in Feb 2024, so this community holds a special place for me. It’s been awesome to see how much it’s been evolving and how many people are part of it. And this shift Robert is describing resonates a lot. We’re seeing it everywhere right now. The pace of change across the industry is tangible and even feels like a high speed train that’s not slowing down. That can make it a challenge to stay grounded. But I don’t think this is about replacing what came before. If anything, it’s exposing more what actually matters. AI is compressing the gap between idea and execution. More people can build, faster than ever. But that just raises the stakes. The fundamentals don’t go away: - Scaling systems - Observability - Resilience - Owning outcomes, not just shipping code We used to delay these because building took time. Now you can ship in hours. Which means you can break things just as fast. So the role evolves. Frontend → full stack → product engineer → something broader still. Higher leverage, higher abstraction, but also more responsibility. Feels like we’re at a point where we either resist this shift, or we lean into it and get better because of it. I’m firmly in the second camp.
