I was recently involved in recruiting for a major public infrastructure project. The team was top-notch — great designers, solid contractors, cutting-edge plans. But the project still hit delay after delay. It wasn’t about technical issues. It was people. Different stakeholders — the city, subs, design firm, community groups — all had different priorities. And no one was fully aligned. What helped turn things around wasn’t just strategy — it was people. We brought in team members who didn’t just know how to build, but how to bridge. They helped implement real systems: – A neutral facilitator to mediate tough conversations – A shared digital platform to avoid version-control chaos – Weekly meetings where progress couldn’t move forward without full alignment What started out as “just another meeting” turned into the glue holding the project together. That experience stuck with me. The right hire doesn’t just check a box — they change the trajectory. They bring clarity where there’s chaos. Momentum where there’s gridlock.
