Tim Paulson shared thisVery thoughtful perspective Guy! Thank you!!Tim Paulson shared thisI've spent a lot of time recently learning about ESOPs. The more I read, the more convinced I become that they're one of the biggest competitive advantages a construction company can have. Take Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc. for example. They haven't become one of the fastest-growing contractors in North America, or one of the most sought-after places to work, by accident. Yes, they invest in technology. Yes, they attract exceptional people. Yes, they deliver some of the country's most complex infrastructure projects. But I believe one of the biggest reasons behind their success is much simpler. Their people have a stake in the outcome. Not just executives. Not just senior leadership. The men and women building the work every day. When operators, superintendents, foremen and project engineers know they're helping build something they'll directly benefit from, they start thinking like owners. That creates pride, accountability, long-term thinking and, perhaps most importantly, opportunity. Reading through Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc.' employee success stories, it's incredible to see field employees who've built genuine, life-changing wealth simply by helping grow the business. That's what an ESOP should do. It shouldn't just help retain people. It should reward the very people responsible for building the company. The more I learn about employee ownership, the more convinced I become we'll see more contractors adopt it over the next decade. When everyone wins as the business grows, that's a model worth paying attention to. Have you worked for an employee-owned business? What's been your experience? Tim Paulson reposted thisTim Paulson reposted thisThe 5Ps reflect how we operate, and Partnership drives stronger results through teamwork. Partnership isn’t a just handshake. It’s leaning on each other, communicating well, and solving problems together. That’s how we work with our employee-owners, clients, and partners — together, from start to finish.

Tim Paulson reposted thisTim Paulson reposted thisOur 5Ps guide everything we do, and Purpose gives our work meaning. Employee‑owners don’t just perform the work; they own the outcome. Purpose turns long days into long‑term value — for communities and for the people who share in the ownership. It’s why crews show up, push harder, and build like it matters.

Tim Paulson liked thisTim Paulson liked thisGrowth is important. Opportunity is essential. Belonging is transformative. Last week, I joined ICMA and hundreds of community leaders and changemakers focused on advancing economic mobility and opportunity. In our session, we explored how micropolitan communities can create pathways to prosperity through redevelopment, housing, workforce development, entrepreneurship, civic engagement, and strategic investment. While the tools may differ from one community to the next, the goal is the same: Helping more people belong, contribute, stay, and thrive. I left inspired by the ideas, partnerships, and commitment of communities working every day to expand opportunity and strengthen the places people call home. #EconomicMobility #Opportunity #CommunityDevelopment #Micropolitan #LocalGovernment #Leadership #WorkforceDevelopment #EconomicDevelopment #CommunityLeadership #ICMA Geosyntec Consultants

After losing both parents to cancer in a 20-month span, I wanted to take a deep breath, travel, spend time with family and have the time necessary to get my parent's estate settled. It's been a wonderful summer thus far, my batteries are recharged and I am looking forward to mapping out the next step in my career. I can't say enough good things about Clayco. A great organization through and through. I appreciate all the support and kind words from my Clayco colleagues.

Tim Paulson liked thisTim Paulson liked thisYesterday, project partners and community members came together to celebrate an exciting milestone on the Improve I-70 Warrenton to Wentzville project with a special "ribbon-joining" ceremony — a fitting way to mark the reopening of a bridge that reconnects the north and south sides of Warrenton! Work on the bridge replacement began in late March, and in just a few months, the Improve 70 Alliance team delivered a new structure that restores this important connection for residents, business, and services throughout the community. The new bridge also features a pedestrian pathway, along with enhanced lighting, railing, and other aesthetic elements provided by the City of Warrenton. Clarkson is proud to be part of the Improve 70 Alliance alongside Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc., Bartlett & West, and HNTB as we continue making progress along the project corridor! Congratulations to everyone who helped bring this important connection back to the Warrenton community. 🚧: https://lnkd.in/gy8eqYmn 📸: Tamara Bremer, Office Manager, and Raeha Nobbs, Procurement Specialist

Tim Paulson liked thisTim Paulson liked thisWhat can branding do for your business? Ask our partners at Casella Waste Systems, Inc., whose POWER OF HARD WORK employer brand has become a rallying cry for their 5,600 employees — driving positive results across culture, recruiting, and performance. Our work together started in 2023 when Suzanne Samour, Casella’s VP of Marketing, approached FieldWrk for help with a recruiting campaign. Demand for Casella’s services was rising. They needed more people, but they were struggling to find candidates willing to put in the work. They were also up against negative perceptions surrounding the waste management industry in general: that it was dirty, unrewarding, wasteful. The challenge went way beyond recruiting. Casella needed a message to fundamentally change how people think about careers in waste management. With this in mind, FieldWrk’s strategy and creative teams dug into employee interviews, surveys, and workshop discussions. We gathered hours and pages of insights into why someone would want to work in waste management, from the people who know best — the men and women of Casella. Nearly everyone we interviewed spoke about the opportunities that exist at Casella — the chance to earn good money, grow their career, build long-term relationships, and do good in their community — all possible for anyone willing to work hard. We had our hook. Since its launch, the POWER OF HARD WORK has helped fill hundreds of positions at Casella. But its impact has grown far beyond recruiting. The message has become a deeply rooted part of Casella’s internal brand and culture, instilling a true sense of pride and loyalty within the organization. As Sue put it, “The Power of Hard Work has taken on a life of its own. It was designed as an external platform, but what happened internally is even more interesting. Our people embraced it. It has become the rallying cry for our whole company.” Casella’s 5,600 employees provide service to 10,000 customer locations in more than 40 states nationwide. Proof of the power of hard work and hardworking brands.
