Financial Controller | Series B SaaS | NYC | $170K-$220K


A high-growth, Series B venture-backed SaaS company is seeking a Financial Controller to own and scale its accounting and financial operations function. The business is entering a critical scaling phase, rapidly expanding ARR, customer base and international footprint and is building a world-class finance function to support its next stage of growth.


This is a hands-on but highly strategic leadership role with full ownership of accounting, financial reporting and controls. You will play a central role in building a scalable finance infrastructure, improving financial processes and ensuring the company is audit-ready and investor-grade as it continues to grow.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Own and lead the end-to-end accounting function, including month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes
  • Build and scale a highly efficient, accurate and repeatable close process suitable for a high-growth SaaS environment
  • Oversee SaaS revenue recognition (ASC 606), including subscriptions, contracts, deferred revenue and ARR reporting
  • Lead preparation of monthly management accounts and investor-grade financial reporting
  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls as the business scales toward audit readiness
  • Own the external audit process, ensuring smooth execution and compliance with US GAAP
  • Drive improvements across AP, AR, payroll, and expense management processes, with a focus on automation and scalability
  • Partner with FP&A, Product, and GTM teams to improve financial data integrity and SaaS metric reporting (ARR, churn, LTV, CAC)
  • Own and optimise ERP and finance systems (e.g. NetSuite) and broader finance stack
  • Support strategic finance initiatives including international expansion, pricing models and new product launches
  • Hire, develop, and lead a growing accounting/finance team, building structure and best practices from the ground up


Key Requirements:

  • 8–12+ years of accounting/finance experience, ideally including public accounting and high-growth SaaS exposure
  • Strong technical accounting background with US GAAP expertise
  • Proven experience owning or co-owning a Controller or senior accounting leadership role
  • Deep understanding of SaaS business models, including revenue recognition (ASC 606), ARR, and subscription metrics
  • Experience building or scaling finance functions in a Series A–C or high-growth SaaS environment
  • Strong experience with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred) and finance process optimization
  • Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills and comfort working with large datasets
  • Strong stakeholder management across finance and non-finance teams (Product, GTM, Engineering)
  • Demonstrated ability to build scalable processes in fast-moving, ambiguous environments
  • Prior team leadership and mentoring experience


Compensation:

$170K–$220K + equity + benefits (typical Series B SaaS range, depending on scale and funding stage)
