  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Chemical), Physics, or related field
  • Current TOP SECRET level clearance with ability to obtain SCI clearances
  • Demonstrated experience leading and managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional communication (written and verbal), presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with adjacent fields (systems engineering, electronics, stress/thermal analysis, configuration management, production, test, quality…)

Please join us as a Propulsion Engineering Manager for the Missile Advanced Concepts Engineering (MACE) team. You will serve as the Functional Leader for a team of propulsion engineers supporting future missile concepts, as well as providing technical support to advanced concept development. The ideal candidate will be organized, flexible, have strong interpersonal skills, have initiative, have the ability to manage multiple tasks, and enjoy a fast paced, dynamic environment.

As The Propulsion Engineering Manager, You Will

  • Serve as the Functional Leader for a team of propulsion engineers supporting advanced concepts.
  • Be responsible for staff planning and tracking activities, to include program need assessment, hiring, onboarding, and coordinating staffing with other functional leaders.
  • Provide technical, functional, and programmatic support to the MACE Leadership Team.
  • Lead a team in performing developing concept architectures and solutions to meet evolving Customer needs.
  • Mentor and develop technical talent in collaboration with the Propulsion, Energetics & Life Support Talent Center (PELS TC) functional organization. Foster a culture of technical excellence with a laser focus on production support.
  • Maintain full command over program priorities and schedules and hold your team accountable to achieve key milestones and deliver value.
  • Regularly presenting technical status and issue resolution to program leadership, customers, and other applicable stakeholders.
  • Travel estimated at 25%

The Propulsion Engineering Manager will be required to provide functional leadership and demonstrate LM Full Spectrum Leadership.

Desired Skills

  • Advanced degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Chemical), Physics, or related field
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong social skills, and ability to build consensus among peers, leaders, and customers
  • Technical experience on missile or missile defense development programs
  • Previous experience with concept development
  • Current Top Secret and SCI clearances
  • Previous SAP experience
  • Experience guiding the successful completion of major programs and functioning in a project leadership role.
  • Full Spectrum Leadership experience and training
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced and dynamic multi-disciplinary environment
  • Excellent organizational and verbal/written communication skills
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills to promote teamwork with internal customers
