Senior Media Relations Specialist

Locations: New York, NY (Midtown Manhattan)
Schedule: Full-Time | Onsite

Our client, a leading architectural design firm, is seeking a Senior Media Relations Specialist to drive strategic communications and elevate the firm's visibility across national, local, and industry media. This role is ideal for a seasoned media relations professional with experience in architecture, design, construction, commercial real estate, or related professional services industries.

The Senior Media Relations Specialist will develop and execute media strategies, build relationships with key journalists and industry influencers, secure meaningful media coverage, and position firm leaders as thought leaders. This individual will help tell the story of the firm's award-winning work, research, and market expertise while supporting brand visibility and reputation management efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute media relations strategies that support business goals and brand visibility.
  • Build and maintain relationships with national, local, business, design, and industry media.
  • Secure media coverage highlighting projects, thought leadership, research, and firm achievements.
  • Draft press releases, media pitches, talking points, executive bios, and other communications materials.
  • Prepare firm leaders for media interviews, speaking engagements, and public appearances.
  • Support reputation management and strategic communications initiatives.
  • Collaborate with leaders and cross-functional teams to ensure consistent messaging.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in media relations, public relations, or strategic communications.
  • Experience in architecture, design, construction, commercial real estate, development, aviation, or related industries strongly preferred.
  • Proven success securing coverage in national, business, architecture, design, and trade media.
  • Strong network of media contacts and journalist relationships.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Experience supporting executive communications and thought leadership initiatives.
  • Highly organized, collaborative, and able to manage multiple priorities.
