About Recreation
At our core, we believe healthcare brands are for life. For the lives they touch, the lives they transform, and the lives they save. Equally vital, the impressions they make are lasting. Enduring long after the clinical trial, the FDA clearance, or the product launch. When your innovation changes what's possible for humanity, your brand must carry that responsibility, with clarity, compassion, consistency, and conviction. And that's the work we live for.
For more than a decade, Recreation has helped shape what modern MedTech and healthcare brands can be — bold, human, and built with intention. Through strategy, design, and storytelling, we've guided category leaders and emerging innovators alike to find their voice, define their impact, and connect meaningfully with the world.
We are a team driven by balance. Where creativity meets strategy, speed meets precision, and innovation meets humanity.
Video and motion are central to how we tell those stories. This role is hands-on, every day: behind the camera on set, then in the edit bay cutting the footage into something that moves people — for clients ranging from international strategics to startup disruptors across MedTech, Biotech, and Healthcare.
The Role
We're looking for a Video Shooter / Editor to shoot and cut work for Recreation, day to day. This is a craft role, not a management one — you'll take direction from the founder/director and producers on what a project needs, and your job is to make it look and sound great, on set and in post. Just as important, you know how to find the human story inside highly technical, clinical subject matter — turning a procedure, a device, a science, or a patient experience into something that feels personal and emotionally resonant on screen.
What You'll Own On Set
Operate camera on shoots — from studio interviews to live clinical/OR environments — under the direction of the director/DP. Execute the shot list and adapt in real time: reframe, relight, and problem-solve to get the coverage a scene needs. Handle on-set data management: offloads, checksummed transfers, and a clean, labeled media pipeline before any card gets wiped. Work smoothly alongside crew — director, DP, gaffers, grips, sound — and on leaner shoots, be ready to cover more than one of those roles yourself.
What You'll Own In Post
Cut selects, assemblies, and fine cuts from a script or director's notes. Build out motion graphics, titles, and light animation as a project calls for it. Color and finish footage to a clean, consistent standard. Handle basic sound design/mix and prep for a final audio pass where needed. Deliver correctly formatted files across specs — social cutdowns, trade-show loops, broadcast masters — with the right codecs and color spaces. Take revision notes and turn cuts around fast.
Technical Environment
You should be fluent across a professional filmmaking stack:
Cameras:
RED Digital Cinema — V-RAPTOR / V-RAPTOR XL, KOMODO / KOMODO-X, DSMC2 (Monstro / Helium / Gemini); Canon R5 C, Canon C80. Comfortable with the REDCODE (R3D) RAW workflow — recording formats, IPP2 color pipeline, RED media (RED PRO CFexpress, MINI-MAG). Experience with ARRI, Sony Venice/FX, or Blackmagic URSA is a plus.
Editorial & finishing:
Adobe Creative Cloud — Premiere Pro (editorial), After Effects (motion/comp), Photoshop / Illustrator (design assets), Media Encoder (delivery). DaVinci Resolve — editorial and color.
Media handling: comfortable with verified transfer/checksum tools (Hedge, Shotput Pro, Silverstack) and following an established storage/backup workflow. You need real, hands-on reps with this kind of gear and software.
Who You Are
3+ years shooting and/or editing professional video, ideally including agency, brand, or commercial work. Run-and-gun documentary experience — comfortable shooting handheld, fast, and adaptive when there's no time for a full setup. Comfortable operating camera on set and cutting in the edit bay — you need to be equally strong at both. Calm and capable on set; easy to work with; takes direction well and executes it precisely. Detail-oriented about media management — you don't lose footage, ever. Bonus: experience in healthcare, medical device, pharma, or another regulated/technical category, and comfort in clinical environments (OR, lab, hospital).
Salary: $75,000–$100,000 annually, depending on experience and demonstrated capabilities across production and post-production.
Recreation is an equal opportunity employer. We consider all qualified applicants regardless of background.
