From the course: VMware vSphere Foundation 9.0 Administrator (2V0-16.25) Cert Prep

What we will deploy

This course is going to feature a variety of hands-on demos that you can follow along with, and we're going to be using a specific set of VMware products throughout this course. And with some of these products, I'll actually demonstrate how to install them. So the first of which is going to be ESXi. We're going to deploy three ESXi hosts, and we're going to deploy the vCenter server appliance, all running on vSphere 9. That's going to be the basis of our lab environment. And the ESXi hosts are going to be virtual machines running inside of VMware workstation. We're also going to create a cluster and we're going to enable vSAN on that cluster. So I'm going to show you how to set up vSAN storage in a vSphere 9 environment. And the final component that we're going to deploy is going to be VCF operations. All of these products are going to appear on the exam and all of the knowledge that you're going to gain is going to be very much testable information. We're also going to configure a number of options and settings in vSphere. We're going to set up distributed resource scheduler or DRS. We're going to set up high availability. We're going to set those up on our cluster on the exact same cluster. That's going to be running vSAN. We're going to set up both standard and distributed virtual switches, and we're going to set up data stores using VMFS. We're also going to utilize vSAN storage extensively. And vSAN is by far the most tested topic when it comes to storage. So if you're going to focus on one specific area of storage to really master for this exam, vSAN is number one on that list.
