The question enterprises ask us has changed. It used to be "can you run our virtual desktops?" Now it's "can you keep them secure, optimised, and evolving while we adopt AI, support a distributed workforce, and answer to tighter regulation?" Answering that second question well is the work of the last four years, and we believe it's part of why Anunta has been recognised as a Niche Player in the 2026 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Desktop as a Service, for the fourth consecutive year. "The workplace is evolving faster than ever before. Enterprises today need infrastructure that can adapt as quickly as their business," said Sivakumar Ramamurthy, CEO at Anunta. "While we are proud of this milestone, we see it as another step in a much larger journey." Our focus stays where it has been: managed operations, automation, security, and multi-cloud orchestration that turn desktop infrastructure into a resilient business capability. To our customers and partners, thank you for trusting us with the complexity. The number everyone quotes is 20% by 2029. The number that actually matters is 80% — the share of that shift that comes from new applications, not migrations. Nobody is rebuilding a working production environment because of a headline. But plenty of teams are quietly answering a different question: where does the next thing go? That decision gets made once and lives for years. Worth being deliberate about it.
Gartner forecasts that by 2029, European organisations will have moved 20% of existing workloads off large hyperscalers and onto local providers. A new term has started appearing in analyst reports for this: "geopatriation." What's less discussed is where that growth is actually coming from. Gartner notes that 80% of the increase involves new applications or on-premises workloads previously earmarked for hyperscalers — not migrations away from what's already running. Most organisations aren't rebuilding live production environments. They're making different decisions about what gets built next. That distinction matters more than the headline number. It means the relevant question isn't "should we migrate everything?" — it's "where should new workloads go, and under what jurisdiction?" Architectural decisions made for new applications tend to persist. The infrastructure choices your team makes in the next twelve months will likely still be running in 2029 and beyond. Frostmoln is designed for organisations asking that question now — European jurisdiction, open standards, no proprietary dependencies. A deliberate starting point rather than a course correction later. Have the criteria for new workload decisions in your organisation changed over the past year? The questions are piling up; What needs to be migrated? What can stay as is? Where should new workloads be placed? What jurisdiction governs which part of the system landscape? This knowledge must be maintained over time! And these decisions will have long lasting effects.

A year ago, Gartner said 90% of companies would ditch specialist phone systems for collaboration-tool calling by 2028. This year's report cuts that number to 70%. A 20-point retreat on a forecast that wasn't even 12 months old. That's not a minor revision. It's a signal. Gartner's newly published 2026 UCaaS Magic Quadrant also shows enterprises cutting their telephony footprint by 10-50% of users, with traditional telephony spend projected to fall 40% by 2029. The vendor landscape itself barely moved — Cisco, Microsoft, RingCentral, and Zoom held their Leader spots for a second year. What changed was the confidence behind the prediction, driven by data sovereignty rules and geopolitical friction in Europe, Canada, and Asia-Pacific that nobody was pricing in last year. Here's the part worth sitting with: if you built a 3-year UCaaS migration plan around last year's "90% by 2028" headline, that plan is now built on a number Gartner itself walked back. → Forecasts aren't commitments — they're snapshots of vendor momentum at one point in time → Regulatory and geopolitical shifts move faster than 5-year IT roadmaps assume → The vendors selling you the "inevitable" future have the least incentive to flag when it slows down Analyst rankings tell you who's winning this year. They don't tell you what's right for your contract, your compliance footprint, or your timeline. Someone still has to do that math independently. #UCaaS #EnterpriseTelecom #TelecomStrategy #VendorNeutral #ITLeadership #CIO #NetworkInfrastructure #DigitalTransformation
