New research from Hub Entertainment Research highlights a clear shift in viewing habits—most pronounced among younger audiences. YouTube now tops Nielsen’s TV charts, creators are landing studio-scale deals, and 3-minute microdramas appear to be succeeding where Quibi failed, as time spent on traditional TV and movies continues to decline. With more than one in five viewers already watching episodic microdramas and younger viewers increasingly discovering TV shows and movies through TikTok and Instagram, Hub’s latest findings point to a meaningful evolution in how audiences find and consume video. 8 Is Better Than None NBC has ordered eight pilots in the past two months, more than double the number of pilots it picked up last year — and more than the total of seven across all broadcast nets during the 2025 development cycle. Sherri, the syndicated talk show hosted by Sherri Shepherd, has been officially canceled after four seasons, according to Variety. The series, produced and distributed by Debmar-Mercury, will conclude following the 2025–2026 television season. The decision reflects broader shifts in the daytime TV landscape rather than performance issues. In a joint statement, Debmar-Mercury co-presidents Ira Bernstein and Mort Marcus shared that the show had recently found its creative stride and expressed interest in exploring future opportunities for the brand across other platforms. Since its debut in fall 2022, Sherri aired across major station groups including Fox, Nexstar, Hearst, Sinclair, Gray, Tegna, and Sunbeam, and was produced out of Chelsea Studios in New York. The show also stepped into time slots previously held by The Wendy Williams Show, marking a notable transition in daytime programming. As audience habits and distribution models continue to shift, Sherri stands as another example of how even well-established formats are being reshaped in today’s television ecosystem. Via Blex Media

📺 You've probably heard about Stephen Colbert's fight against Paramount and the FCC. The crux of the issue centers on longstanding, federal regulation that if a political candidate appears on a broadcast TV or radio show, their opponents are entitled to comparable air time. This is known as the "equal time rule." The rule doesn't apply to digital, streaming, or cable platforms. It also doesn't apply to "bona fide news." Historically, late night shows and daytime talk shows have fallen under that category. That is ... until this year.
